Floral Thinking of You CardDesigner: Laura Williams

1 Trim patterned paper panel and adhere to card base. 2 Trim cardstock strip; adhere. 3 Wrap twine around card and tie double bow. 4 Stamp leaves and flowers on cardstock. Note: Stamp off solid flower image once on scrap paper and then on cardstock. Fussy-cut images. 5 Stamp frame and dot background on cardstock. Note: Stamp off dot background once on scrap paper and then on cardstock. Stamp sentiment. Fussy-cut. 6 Adhere pieces using foam tape for two flowers and sentiment.

Second Generation StampingTechniques

SUPPLIES

Second generation stamping involves inking the stamp, stamping it once full strength, inking the stamp again and stamping it on scrap paper before stamping it on the project. This makes a lighter image, which is called second generation stamping or stamping off.

1 Mask border with tape on card base and ink background. 2 Stamp sentiment. 3 Stamp hearts multiple times without reinking. Repeat for each color. 4 Remove mask.

1 Trim patterned paper panel and adhere to card base. 2 Die-cut square word bubbles from cardstock and patterned paper. Trim patterned paper die cut and adhere to cardstock die cut. 3 Stamp phone multiple times on die cut without reinking. Stamp circle on cardstock, punch, and adhere to phone with foam tape. 4 Adhere word bubble layers together and adhere to card with foam tape. Stamp sentiment. 5 Die-cut oval word bubble. Stamp word bubble. Spell “ring!” with stickers. Affix star to word bubble and adhere to card with foam tape.

Note: For softer colors, ink circle stamp, stamp off on scrap paper, and stamp on letter. Repeat until letter is colored. 4 Adhere letters to cardstock panel. Adhere panel to card base with foam tape.

SKETCH TIP

Don’t be intimidated by the rays in thissketch. To create the diagonal across twopages, Mou trimmed two pieces of eachpaper to 5" x 12", laying them side by sideto form 5" x 24" strips of each color. Sheused a pencil and ruler to trace the sunburstpattern on the backside of one color andtrimmed into rays, then adhered the rays over the remaining two strips.

SCRAPLIFTING TIP

Create a cheerfulspringtime spectrum ofcolor on your title usingwater-based markers and a blending pen. Although Mou used a canvas alphabet, try this techniqueon watercolor paper and then die-cut your title.

Wendy enlarged a 3x4 digital journaling card by 400% and used it as the cut file for the background on her layout. She also added subtle definition to the sun’s rays with a fine-point black pen.

1 Trim strips of cardstock. 2 Adhere red and melon strips to card base. 3 Off to right and left sides of card, place strip of double-sided adhesive parallel to card base, removing backing on side that is facing up. 4 Carefully space pre-cut blue cardstock strips across card base adhering to double-sided adhesive on either side of card. 5 Place piece of scrap cardstock over blue strips and attach to double-sided adhesive; flip over. Slip card base between strips and scrap cardstock to position dies; adhere dies to strips, remove card base, and die-cut. 6 Remove strips from inside of stars and use dies as guide to adhere strips to card base; trim excess strips. 7 Adhere dots and stamp sentiment.

&&&Want the resist look without heat embossing? Toss aside that embossing powder and create the effect of a heat-emboss resist with Goosebumps from Imagine Crafts. 1 Secure stencil in place using a repositionable tape, such as washi. Apply Goosebumps to area using dauber on bottle. Allow to dry. Note: When using Goosebumps with shimmer added, make sure product is well mixed before applying.

3 Carefully remove color from Goosebumps using a wet wipe and napkin. Note: You may need to touch up areas surrounding “embossed” area afterwards to keep a smooth transition between points.

2 Apply color(s). Use chalk inks in colors that complement the scheme of your album.
