April 27, 2018 MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Harry Houlis | [email protected] Dear all, It has recently come to my attention that we have been having issues with our recent 3 rd quarter report cards for students in the Middle School and the High School. Due to a data transfer glitch, the absences and tardies (late to class) present on the quarter 3 report cards were cumulative absences/tardies from the beginning of the year. If you have any questions about these absences, particularly if your child was on a school trip such as a CEESA competition, please send me an email and let me know about this. Please include, to the best of your ability, the dates of the absences and which school trip your child was on. This is easily fixable on our end and we can process these, with new report cards printed for those families affected, within a week. Apologies for any confusion or concern caused.

[email protected] LEAVING FAMILIES It is that time of year where I start working with all students who are leaving AAS-SP to ensure they process this transition appropriately. Leaving families are a common part of the international school experience and AAS-SP is no exception. If you know (or reasonably suspect) that you will be moving on from St. Petersburg and withdrawing your children, please be sure to let the school know as soon as possible so that I can begin the Leaving Student Program with your children.

[email protected] ALLERGIES AND ASTHMA Tree and grass pollen in the spring can cause allergic reactions and worsen asthma symptoms. If your child has any chronic health conditions such as allergies or asthma, the nurse might need to provide emergency treatment in school. It is important to complete the emergency action plan for your child’s condition and bring it to the main office or to the nurse’s office (room 143). Please bring any medications or medical supplies (epi-pens, asthma inhalers, etc.) as well.
