Fast product changeover and small series characterize modern SMD production. That‘s why a short changeover time is the most important feature. Therefore, large fee-der capacity, automatic feeder identification and easy operating software are important characteristics of a high-flexible placement machine.
The placement system PANTERA ideally meets the standards of a high-mix / low-vo-lume production. The application range is large and the placement is fast and reliable.
All components are measured by an universal optical system and placed precisely (laser and top-down-visi-on).
The variety of feeders opens a large application spec-trum and provides flexibility. Tape reels, single tape segments, bars and pallets of each size can be used for component feeding. The component height can be up to 15 mm.
The combination of the placement system with a dis-penser saves costs and place for additional machines. The PANTERA can be equipped with a time-pressure or a screw dispenser for glue and solder paste application.

Easy operation
The operating software is the key to the machine‘s flexibility. The powerful soft-ware is based on Windows and features a fully graphi-cal surface. It‘s operation and programming are easy and quickly learned.
The software is in daily use on more than 1‘000 machi-nes worldwide.
High capacity
The large feeder capacity and the automatic identifi-cation of the intelligent fee-ders minimize change-over time and are a guarantee of quality. All tape feeders are electrically driven and fee-ding pitch is programmable via software.
Time saving
The PANTERA can be pro-grammed off-line or on-line. Bar codes on feeders and components guarantee a flawless and fast feeder programming.
Space saving
With it‘s small footprint of only 80x80 cm (31.5x31.5“) the PANTERA fits into every production floor plan.

Fast changeover
For a high-mix production changeover time is the most important costs factor. The PAN-TERA concept reduces changeover time and costs to a minimum. Off-line programming, in combination with intelligent feeders and large feeder capacity, facilitate an economi-cal low-volume placement.
All feeders for belts and bars are intelligent. Wherever a feeder is installed on the rack, the machine automatically detets it‘s posi-tion. The feeders‘ status is shown in colours on the screen.
The PANTERA has a capacity for more than 100 components. That‘s why many stan-dard components (e.g. resistors, capacities) permanently remain in the machine, only specific components must be updated.
Off-line programming allows during run-ning production to prepare following orders without stopping the placement machine.

The feeders feature an integrated reel holder. They are compact and easy to handle. Pro-gramming can be carried out manually within the software or with a wireless bar code reader.

The powerful user interface of the PANTERA presents all information graphically. Com-plex placement data are shown understan-dable for everybody as virtual PCB.
The universal CAD interface converts data from layout programs (CAD) into place-ment files within seconds. An extensive component library is included. Additional forms can fast and easily be created by the installed drawing program.
Program changes are possible with one mouse click, for instance rotating, mirro-ring, moving and erasing of components. Multiple panels can be generated out of single PCB.
The unique „Virtual View“ function allows test and correction of a program without placing a component. This guarantees error-free production from the first PCB.
With the installation of the free remote sup-port software help can be provided quickly anywhere in the world.

Great variety of feeders and components
A flexible production meets the needs of the customers. Therefore the PANTERA is open concerning feeders and components.
All free spaces, which are not occupied by PCB, belts or sticks can be used by pallets or rest-tape feeders. The software also accepts customer specific constructions as feeders.
For all belts and sticks standard feeders are available. Belts from 8 to 56 mm width can be processed. Components can be 15 mm high. For pallets and tape segments univer-sal feeders are available.
For low-volume series rest-tape feeders are the ideal tool to process short belt segments.
Holders for pallets can be mounted everywhere in the placement area and in feeder places. The placement area is increased by omitting feeders right and behind.
By changing the adapter (black) the stick feeders can quickly be fitted to different component dimensions.

High speed and accuracy
Dispenser for adhesives and solder paste
Top-down vision for reference mark recognition and manual teach-in of placement positions.
Laser alignment (Cyberoptics) fast and precisely measures all compo-nents on their way from feeder to placement location (on the fly).
The PANTERA is equipped with two optical sys-tems, a laser alignment and a top-down vision.
Top-down vision: Finds fiducial marks automati-cally. It can by used for teaching and controlling after dispensing and placement.
Laser alignment: measures every component on-the-fly and is responsible for the perfect align-ment in x, y and angle.
For dispensing no additional programming is necessary. The coordinates of the adhesive or solder paste points are stored in the component library.
Time-pressure dispenser. Archimedean screw dispenser.
The PANTERA can be delivered with a screw or time-pressure dispenser for metering adhesive spots or solder paste.
The combination of the placement system with a dispensing system saves costs and place of additional equipment.
