Disaster Management System
RAID- Redundant Array of Independent Discs
Technology that provides increased storagefunctions and reliability through redundancy.
Data stored in two discs at a time- so that if one
fails, the other can be used to recover the data.
When multiple physical disks are set up to use
RAID technology, they are said to be in a RAID
array. This array distributes data across multiple
disks, but the array is addressed by the operating
system as one single disk
RAID Levels have been set up at store level and at
the centralised level

Challenges faced
Difficulties arose after implementation esp. duringinterim period of 6 months involving data migration
Since the introduction of SAP, the process of bug fixing
has become cumbersome and the turn around time has
increased. This is because of parallel execution of REMand SAP.
Difficulty in measuring tangible benefits until the legacy
systems are completely replaced by SAP.
Resistance from employees for change as they require
module specific training for the same.

Future outlook
REM will be completely phased out and SAP would be used
for all business processes both front end and back end.
Instead of EOD updating, hourly updating will be
implemented once REM is completely removed.
Pantaloons being a forerunner in the use of IT for business
purposes, is further looking into Data warehousing and
Business Intelligence solutions, for use of Analytics to further
improve store performance.
