Entrepreneurship Awareness CampIn order to sensitize students about Entrepreneurship (an alternative careeroption), Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities organized Three DaysEntrepreneurship Awareness Camp sponsored by NSTEDB, Department ofScience & Technology, Govt. of India in collaboration with Center for AppliedResearch & Entrepreneurship (CARE) of ABES Engg. College, Ghaziabad from11-13 January 2017. During the camp 80 students of B.tech IInd Semester ofall streams were exposed with concept of Entrepreneurship and its pros andcons as a career and how it differs from the usual job culture.During the camp One day industrial visit to Handloom industry Panipat wasbeing organised where students got exposure of different techniques ofExport and import industry and new methodologies required for being anentrepreneur.Mr.B K Sahu, Dy Manager, NRDC, New Delhi delivered his lecture on the Role ofIPR for the growth and development of sustainable development. MahendraKumar Gupta, Manager-CARE, ABES-EC conducted sessions on Concepts andbasics of Entrepreneurship, Selection of right Business Idea & B-PlanPreparation, Business Idea Selection & Preparation of launch and Good and Badabout Financial Management for Startups.

Mahendra KumarGupta, Manager-CARE, ABES-ECconducted sessions on Concepts and basicsof Entrepreneurship, Selection of rightBusiness Idea & B-Plan Preparation,Business Idea Selection & Preparation oflaunch and Good and Bad about FinancialManagement for Startups.

• Department organized a Parent-teacher meetingwith a purpose to create a common platform,where teacher and parents come together toenrich the student’s educational experiences anddiscuss variety of issues, regarding all rounddevelopment of students.

About the event

The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities(ASH) organized a program for the selection of ClassRepresentatives of ASH Department for the session2017-2018. The contest was wonderfully convened byMs. Sukrati Sharma, Asst. Prof. ASH.

The judges for the event were Dr. Deepak Raj, Dr.Vijay kaushik, Dr Shweta Saroha & ms Himanisharma.

Selection of CAPTAINHead Class Representative (HCR)

The Department of Applied Sciences and Humanities (ASH)organized a program for the selection of CAPTAIN (HCR) ofASH Department for the session 2016-2017 on 20th March 2017. The contest was wonderfully convened by Ms. Sukrati Sharma,Asst. Prof. ASH.The judges for the event were Dr. Vikram Bali (HOD,CSE) ,Dr. Gaurav Gupta (HOD,IT) , Mr. Sunil Dhull (HOD,ME).The honorable guests present were Shri Hari Om Tayal(Chairman,PIET) , Shri Suresh Tayal Ji (Member BOG,PIET), Shri Rakesh Tayal Ji (Member BOG,PIET), Captain Dr.K.K.Paliwal (Director,PIET), D.S.W. Shri B.B. Sharma Ji andDr. Vinay Khatri (HOD,ASH) .The benchmarks for the aforesaid selection were mainlyleadership quality, positive attitude, good communication skills,good organizational skills, ability to be a good role modelincluding others.

Prodigy- ASH(2017)Applied Science Department conducted a unique TalentHunt programme which commenced on 9th Feb, 2017 underthe banner ‘The Prodigy of Applied Science Dept’.The objective of the contest was to hone the buddingengineers for their placement requirements well in advance.The contest was convened by Ms. Rekha Mahajan underthe guidance of Dr. Vinay Khatri, HOD, Applied Sciences,as a Mock Practice to meet the requirements of thecorporate world.It was especially formulated to ensure multi-pronged inputamong the students through a mock interactive drill. Theresulting synergy led to matchless exposure of thestudents for a bright tomorrow. Hence all the studentsfrom ASH department contested for the much covetedTitle ‘The Best Prodigy of ASH’ with lot of enthusiasmand fervor.

Selection Criterion- Prodigy ASH

The contest took place in three sessions.

• The First Session: All the students appeared for the MCQs Test (prepared as per the placement criteria) Only 50 candidates were shortlisted for the Second Round.

• The Second Session: comprised a Paragraph Writing Contest. Only 10 students were short listed for the third round.

• The Third Session: A Mock interview was conducted by the panel of experts i.e. Dr. B. B Sharma, Dean Students’ Welfare; Dr Vikram Bali, HOD (CSE); MrSunil Dull, HOD (ME); Mr. Gorav Gupta, HOD (IT).

Impromptu 2k17 (Round-2)

After the successful completion of Impromptu 2k16(Round-1), the department of Applied Sciences and Humanities conducted 2nd round of Impromptu 2k17which was convened by Dr. Shweta Saroha and Ms. Himani Sharma, faculties, ASH, on 29th March, 2017.The event was organized to develop and inculcate the qualities of effective public speaking skills, confidence, and impeccable discourse skills among students of first year. It aimed at removing of fear in the way of required linguistic skills in the young professionals.The event was presided by Dr. Capt. K.K. Paliwal(Director); Dr. S.K. Khanna (Administrator); and was judged by Dr. Jagmohan (BBA), Dr. Vijay Kaushik(ASH), and Dr. Subhashish Pal, HOD (Textile).

Faculty Development programme

• The Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities, organized two weeks Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Entrepreneurship in-association with ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad from 19 June to 1 July, 2017. The program was sponsored by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

• The Program was organized with an aim to equip the faculty to develop vision, strategy and structure for Entrepreneurship development in the educational institution, to inculcate entrepreneurship values among the students, to organize entrepreneurship awareness camps and other entrepreneurship related orientation programs. Various expert lectures were delievered during the program to develop entrepreneurial competencies, business environment scanning, business opportunity identification and on market survey tools and techniques. Around 22 faculty members from various departments got benefitted by this programe and learned techniques & entreprise management skills.

• The Programe was coordinated by Dr Vinay Khatri, Head, Ash department and Mr Mahender Gupta, manager care ABES engineering college.
