Dear Friend, I am excited to announce that we are in the third year of our Panera Bread Knead for Knowledge Scholarship Program! We need your support to continue making the dream of attending college feasible to children in the Tampa Bay area diagnosed with childhood cancer or a chronic blood disorder. Extended hospital stays and grueling treatments often result in missed days of school and exorbitant medical bills. At Panera Bread, we believe in the importance of education and wanted to do something to address both the financial and educational strains placed upon these children and families. The Knead for Knowledge Scholarship Program was developed to offer scholarships as well as provide an additional hands-on element (Students Achieving through Interactive Learning) to enhance all aspects of the learning process. In the past two years, thanks to our generous donors and customers, we were able to award $130,000 in college scholarships to deserving recipients! Also, the S.A.I.L. Program has continued to grow and has become a weekly activity that the children have embraced. We would like to invite you to become involved in our Knead for Knowledge Scholarship Program by making a donation to either help fund one of our scholarships or to donate an entire scholarship named after your business. This year, the average yearly tuition at a Florida public college is $20,625.15. The following page outlines suggested levels of giving, although any amount will be appreciated. Please consider joining our efforts in making a positive difference in the lives of children who have already undergone significant challenges. Please feel free to reach out to Vikki Kaiser, Director of Marketing & Public Relations with any additional questions. She can be reached at [email protected] or (813) 877-7533. Dear Friend,

I am excited to announce that we are in the third year of our Panera Bread Knead for Knowledge

Scholarship Program! We need your support to continue making the dream of attending college feasible

to children in the Tampa Bay area diagnosed with childhood cancer or a chronic blood disorder.

Extended hospital stays and grueling treatments often result in missed days of school and exorbitant

medical bills. At Panera Bread, we believe in the importance of education and wanted to do something

to address both the financial and educational strains placed upon these children and families.

The Knead for Knowledge Scholarship Program was developed to offer scholarships as well as provide an

additional hands-on element (Students Achieving through Interactive Learning) to enhance all aspects of

the learning process. In the past two years, thanks to our generous donors and customers, we were

able to award $130,000 in college scholarships to deserving recipients! Also, the S.A.I.L. Program has

continued to grow and has become a weekly activity that the children have embraced.

We would like to invite you to become involved in our Knead for Knowledge Scholarship Program by

making a donation to either help fund one of our scholarships or to donate an entire scholarship named

after your business. This year, the average yearly tuition at a Florida public college is $20,625.15. The

following page outlines suggested levels of giving, although any amount will be appreciated. Please

consider joining our efforts in making a positive difference in the lives of children who have already

undergone significant challenges.

Please feel free to reach out to Vikki Kaiser, Director of Marketing & Public Relations with any additional

questions. She can be reached at [email protected] or (813) 877-7533.

Sincerely,

Kevin Ricci

2013-2014 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

2013-2014 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT TESTIMONIALS “I just want to sincerely thank each of you for all you continue to do for so many children and families! Last night was just a portion of what it's all about...and the need for more support, sponsors, and education that these great organizations deserve. Our family was so touched by the love and generosity in that room. Not every story or outcome is good... My heart goes out to those families who have lost a child to cancer. We will continue to support you all in anything we do. I want to be a part of this in years to come. We are so grateful and thankful for people like you who help these kids and their families. Without you, there would be none of this.” Mother of 2014 scholarship recipient “My first year of college has proven to be an even better experience than I expected. I was able to achieve a 3.4 grade point average the first semester and I am setting a new goal of 3.6 the second semester. I believe that meeting all these small objectives are the stepping stones that will lead me to my original larger objective of becoming a lawyer. I hope that the cancer center realizes the significant part they play in making these goals possible for individuals like me. Your generosity is what will allow me to continue onward. I look forward to standing in front of you in a few years to celebrate along with my parents the fact that I have graduated college and will be attending law school.” 2014 scholarship recipient “I am a two time cancer survivor of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and a bone marrow recipient, but I don’t see myself as a victim. Nor do I want anyone to feel sorry for me. I am applying for this scholarship because I am a strong, hardworking and responsible person in great need of financial assistance… I’ve spent my entire high school career undergoing treatment and recovery, but I can proudly say that I’ve been cancer free for two years. Despite missing two semesters, I will graduate on time with a 3.3 GPA…. A life changing event such as cancer can alter a person’s path in life, and certainly their priorities…. I found myself wanting to give back and help other children fight this awful disease. I plan to attend Saint Leo University and study biomedical as I prepare for a career in medicine. My goal is to eventually become a pediatric oncologist. Receiving this scholarship will help bring me one step closer to my goal. I ask that you please consider investing in me as I understand the importance of working towards the future.” 2014 scholarship recipient “I attended the ‘Can Survive’ conference and hope to serve as a positive role model in my community, and to all those who have been touched by this terrible disease. Thank you for considering me as a financial scholarship recipient… the need for this scholarship will afford me the opportunity to continue my studies and further my education. I’m grateful for all who have walked beside me during my journey. In light of my experience with cancer, something positive has evolved. I’ve gained trust and determination to move forward and pursue my goals without any hesitation. I know that hard work and dedication pay off. I will achieve because, I’m a survivor!” 2014 scholarship recipient
