I know choosing a new school isn’t an easy

thing to do. I remember how afraid I was

not to jump into something worse than my

previous school. But despite all of my

doubts I decided to take the risk and

become a student at Żeromski High School.

And you know what? It was the best

decision I could possibly make.

The bilingual class in Żeromski High School connects students who love English. What you can find

here is not only the super high level of English, but also amazing people. They are the best classmates you could ever think of, the kind of friends who are ready to stay with you until 2 a.m. to explain to you a Physics or Math task on Skype. Always there to cheer you up when you’re having a lousy day, making your school life better and unforgettable. All this, our passion for English, common goals and the amazing atmosphere in the classroom make this place special. And trust me, as soon as you join us, you’ll feel that too.

And what about the teachers? Believe me or not, but they are the best ones I’ve ever had. There is a bond between the teachers and students in this school, which you will not find anywhere else. You can say that your teachers are as happy to have classes with you as you are to have classes with them. They share their

passion with you and they make you love the subject they teach. Take history, for example. After each

lesson I just can’t wait until another one. My History teacher can create such atmosphere during the lessons that you wouldn’t think it is possible. And you don’t even have to open your textbook since her

classes are so memorable that you just cannot forget them!

But the History teacher is not the only teaching goddess in Żeromski High School. I feel the luckiest person ever that I can be taught by people like my English teachers. We can benefit so much from their lessons

filled with knowledge and humor One of them is my class tutor and she is the friendliest and most caring person you can imagine. She’s just another ambitious and determined teacher to adore

here, and if you ever happen to be taught by her, you can be positive you’ll learn a lot.

Of course, not everything here is perfect. There is a lot of work in this school and the first months here,

though enjoyable and wonderful, were also very hard. But as long as you’ re a hardworking person,

you’ll manage in here. And, what’s important, you can always count on other students or teachers’ help. So don’t let yourself be scared off! Take the risk and go for something you’ve been working for because

it’s worth it. Trust me.

I wish you good luck and…see you in September!

At the beginning of the school year we had the privilege to work with Mr.

Maciej Orłoś during a journalistic project called “Nie tak dawno temu w

Warszawie”. Our job was to interact with and then interview senior

citizens of the city about their youth and how it used to be in Warsaw. We

then recorded 10 short films (each 10 minutes long) about ten different

subjects (like their used-to-be idols, about the music they used to listen to,

about how they were raised) which can currently be seen on the website

www.dawnotemu.pl. Besides the obvious advantages of this project, we

were invited to the final gala, where we got our thank-you gifts, our diplomas

and where we got to sample some really amazing food

In winter we hosted a Polish –

Jewish meeting, where we got to

chat with our guests who came all

the way from Israel. It was a lovely

meeting, where we could integrate

and talk about our interesting

differences and many similarities,

discuss religion or just chat about

teenage subjects. This was a great

experience for us, as the meeting

resulted in some very interesting

knowledge that we sure wouldn’t

have gotten anywhere else.

At the beginning of 2013 we had a very special

fund-raiser for one of our graduates that

unfortunately got really badly hurt in a car accident.

The fund-raiser had two parts – one of them was a

huge Christmas bake sale on a school day and the

other was a Saturday auction. The two parts

resulted in nearly 3500 zł, which is a huge amount,

considering it was a school fund-raiser. All of our

students were very eager to help, one way or

another, which is just amazing

We are currently a part of an ongoing

photography course/project that takes

place in Teatr Wielki. Anyone with a camera

and passion could sign up, and the two girls

in our bilingual class who are taking part in it

couldn’t be happier about it. Their main

instructor is a well-known and highly

respected photographer, who has won World

Press Photo twice. The girls who are

participating in the project get to go inside

the theatre wherever they want, they can go

backstage during a lot of brilliant

performances to take photos and they got to

meet people with the same passions as

theirs.

At the beginning of the school year, our

headmistress asked us for help to go to

the dress rehearsals for a play in Teatr

Wielki directed by Wojtek Blecharz. It

was a great experience as we got to

listen to and talk to the brilliant director

himself. As a gesture of gratitude, all of

the students that went there got a pair

of free tickets from the theatre.

Every other Tuesday a couple of classes

are going to the cinema to watch

some of the biggest classics in

cinematographic history

Events that happened

A Charity Concert will take place at the beginning of June.

Filled with great music (performances of some befriended

bands, such as Animal Bar or Mniejsze Zło, absolute stars of

this year’s UFO, and some brilliant solo acts, including Alicja

Wasita, this year’s contestant in The Voice of Poland), great

food and just loads of fun, it will definitely track a lot of

attention and hopefully will become a regular event at this

school. It will take place after the talent show, so we can also

expect the musical contestants to perform at the concert.

In May, 6 of our students will be chosen to go on a

trip to Holland. It will be a 5-day seminar with

students from other countries and the mutual task is

to encourage each other to consider the other’s home

country as a place to go to after high school

Every year we are organizing a talent show that takes

place around April. Each and every talent of our school

is welcome to show off their abilities.

I like most talking in English

with my classmates. Especially

outside the school. It’s really

funny because when people

want to ask us something they

speak English too.

What I like about my math’s

teacher is her mindset, easy-

going behavior and specific

sense of humor.

A bilingual class

prepares us for the

career both in Poland

and abroad.

I love this neat division

of language between

two teachers which

makes workload less of

a strain.

I learn a lot of English and have

fun at the same time. My English

teacher is the most hard-

working, busy bee I have ever

seen. I’m impressed by her great

involvement in our lessons.

I like the fact that this school

allows me to develop my skills

and the teachers support my

ideas or at least take them

into consideration.

Each day, no matter how exhausting or

depressing, is filled with laughter, mutual

help and care for each other. As Marlena

Dietrich said: ‘It’s the friends you can call

up at 4 a.m. that matters” and these are

exactly the friends I have in this school.

One of the coolest things about our class is

English homework! We have to read two

books a month (for example ‘Hunger Games’,

‘Forrest Gump’), we get audiobooks to listen

to and we watch some TV series (for example

‘Glee’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’). That’s the

perfect way to learn vocabulary.

There’s a lot of work but we feel

our English is still getting better.

Our teachers are very creative and

their lessons are inspiring. We

learn biology, geography and

economics in English so we

improve our vocabulary and

speaking skills.
