The project started in mid 2012, as a side business of one of Indonesia’s well-‐known entrepreneur in Se-‐
marang. The apartment itself was developed to serve the growing demands of middle-‐upper class’ ac-‐
commodation. The functions are divided into three towers namely two apartment towers and a hotel,
which is connected with one of the apartment through a mezzanine.
With the project architect, I did the massing and planning studies, including the room arrangement and

Existing conditions
With the developing economy of Indonesia, middle-‐
upper class apartment developments are occurring
in its major cities, including Semarang as the capi-‐
opportunities are supporting the developer’s deci-‐
sion making for this particular hotel and residential.
Aside of business and recreation, venues for private
events such as weddings as an attractive invest-‐
ment are included in the hotel’s functions, which is
still demanded in Semarang. Meanwhile, the apart-‐
ment is targeting the small private investment of
the middle-‐high income group.

karta, Indonesia. With its nearby mountains
and hills, the developers decided to create
a new hotel and resorts, complemented
with a residential complex. The idea of de-‐
veloping the complex is to answer the ho-‐
tel demands from its closest city, Bogor. As
for the residential complex, the idea is to
create holiday homes or private residential
for the middle and upper class economy.
The development itself is still very open,
due to various plans made by their neigh-‐
bouring developers. In this project, I was
responsible as the junior architect during
the proposal process concerning initial
design and feasibility studies, including in
coordinating with Novotel as the appoint-‐
ed hotel chain. Presentation scheme was

Located in Gianyar municipality of Bali, Indonesia,
the site is a beauty in disguise with the potential of
its natural lagoon. Together with the input of exter-‐
nal property analyst appointed by the client, I was
doing this proposal as a junior architect in PTI Archi-‐
tects. I was responsible to create the massing stud-‐
ies of the whole area and architecture feasibility
studies based on initial concepts and ideas from the
project architect. Presentation scheme was own-‐
made.
Existing conditions
The ambition of the city of Amsterdam is to further develop Zuidas as a modern city centre for living,
recreation, international trade and knowledge. Nevertheless, in the Netherlands as well as most western
countries blueprint master plans have become useless because of the increased uncertainties involving
future developments. On the other hand, Zuidas is usually described and imagined as a piece of city in pro-‐

combined the forces

strategies to support the development of Zuidas.
Besides linking the nodes of separated places near-‐
by Zuidas, the idea is to link the nearby hospital,
which has the potential of international patients
with adding commercial center in Zuidas, which
will also attract the nearby communities. Last but
not least is the connection potential with Schiphol,
by creating direct access for business travellers de-‐
parting from Zuidas or the other way around.

on. Particularly, I chose the role of project developer A. Zestienhoven itself has partially been developed,

other public transport. Moreover, the noise disturbance from the airport is one of the barriers. Thus, some

an integrated environment, based on responsibilities and needs of each role. The idea of the project is to
be a simulation of a real life development planning, with multiple stakeholders and various aims and ob-‐
jectives. Each role had to stood up for his/her own role through research and studies based on the current
market and real life development precedents. The municipality for instance, had to drive the developers

of case studies, interviews and survey. The survey will combine the Post Occupancy Evaluation based on
the case studies.
To measure the factors, levels and attributes were decided based from the studies to see the priority pref-‐

hierarchy is an important aspect in this design, which is symbolized by the symmetrical plan, facade and
steps, also with the open-‐air facilities for their daily ceremonies or ‘apel’ as they call it in Bahasa Indonesia.
