Satisfactory Academic Progress
Federal regulations required that colleges follow Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards for students applying and receiving federal aid.
Academic history is reviewed on an annual basis.
GPA: Cumulative Grade Point Average must be 2.0 or greater
Pace: Complete 67% of cumulative units attempted The pace is measured by dividing the cumulative number of units the student
has successfully completed by the number of units the student has attempted.
Unit Limit: Complete your major within 150% unit limit
PALOMAR MAKES IT POSSIBLE.
Example: Joe needs 60 units to complete an Associate’s Degree at Palomar College
The maximum units that Joe is allowed to attempt and still be eligible for financial aid is 60 units x 150% = 90 units
All programs may have different maximum unit limit requirements
Satisfactory Academic Progress
Appeals may be submitted if you had an extenuating circumstance that contributed to your SAP disqualification Examples: Medical problems, family emergency, other documented extenuating
circumstances
How do I appeal my SAP disqualification? Refer to our “Appeal & Special Circumstance” page
www.palomar.edu/fa/appeals Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form must be submitted along with
