Wedding CelebrantChoosing a wedding celebrant is an important part of your wedding as your celebrant does more than just marry you…..they take the time to get to know you and your partner, learn about your backgrounds, how you met and fell in love, as well as getting the honour of officiating on your special day.

Preferences for a wedding celebrant are different for each couple and the Whitsundays are lucky enough to have a range of professional celebrants working in the area. Whether your preference is for your service to be performed by a male or female, young or mature celebrant, the Whitsundays has a number of celebrants to choose from.

Some couples require the services of priests or pastors: both are available in the Whitsundays and your coordinator can provide further details on these options.

Legal & Transfers Your wedding officiate, be it a celebrant, priest, or pastor, will step you through the process of the paperwork, documentation, and identification required to marry in Australia.To marry in Australia you must be over 18 years of age. According to the Marriage Act (1961), the marriageable age is 18 years. In exceptional circumstances, one person must be 18 years, and the other be over 16 years, with court permission and parental permission.

Notice of Intended Marriage - Before you marry you must submit a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOMI) at least one calendar month before your wedding date and no earlier than 18 months. The NOIM form must be completed neatly using a black pen and can be signed before any of the listed approved persons found on the back of the form. You will also need to produce the following...
