What our
customers
say
- 4 -
1. The Weight
With our pallet range weighing anything from
4.5kg to 8kg, it is considerably lighter than its
wooden and plastic counterparts. A Pallite® can
easily be lifted and moved around by one
individual / operative without risk or fear of
‘manual handling’ injury.
Carrying less weight also means lower
transportation costs, especially with airfreight.
The same can be said for our Pallite® boards (under 2kg for a 12x10 board) and Pallite®
Box range.
2. No nails, no splinters
Eliminating the largest cause of injury in the warehouse and distribution work place from
handling pallets. Also abolishes the potential of damaged / contaminated goods from
splinters / nails.
3. Bespoke sizes
Innovatively designed to be able to cater for individual / unique requirements, the
Pallite® is a genuine solution for many customers who have over-sized (or sometimes
under-sized) product that need to be relocated.
4. Conveyor frame friendly
The Pallite® Pallet and Pallite® Box is made up to suit the requirement. If transporting
includes an automation process, we can add conveyor frames to ensure a smooth flow.
If the contents of the pallet or box needs to be banded, we can add edge protection
to protect the deck.
5. Strength
In our opinion, the strongest paper or cardboard
based pallet and box in the industry. They can be
made to a capability so they can lift and hold a
tonne consignment with a stacking strength of up to
seven tonnes.

6. ISPM 15 Exempt
The Pallite® range is ISPM15 exempt, which means no need to worry about heat
treatment or kiln drying (so better for the environment!).
7. Reduces the chance of mould
The paper making process reduces the relative humidity of the product to the degree
that it becomes an inhospitable place for mould to grow. This means less cross-
contamination with your products.
8. 100% recyclable
The entire Pallite® range is 100% ‘Grade A’ recyclable
product with a typical ‘bale’ value of circa 80p per
Pallite® pallet. A big benefit to the end user.
9. Easy for a consumer to dispose of
As the Pallite® is recyclable, it is easier for a consumer (or end user) to dispose of and
negates any reason to add to the landfill.
10. Slat-free surface
With the deck offering a flat, complete surface, there is
no risk of corrugated boxes being damaged by being
caught between missing or broken slats (found on a
wooden pallet).
11. Dimension consistency
Understanding the importance of the dimensions being
consistent in automated processes, the Pallite® has a tolerance
level typically between 0.5mm and 3mm.

Pallite® is the new robust and ultra-lightweight alternative to pallets,
pallet boards and pallet boxes. Made from fibreboard, it is available in
Euro, UK standard and numerous bespoke shapes and sizes.
We can provide several deck versions with a stacking strength
of up to seven tonnes (static), a maximum lifting
load of 1,000kg and 750kg ‘SWL’ in open beamed
racking (load type dependent).
Anything from 4kg, the Pallite® pallet can weigh as little as a ¼ of the
weight of its wooden counterpart with the added benefit of being 100%
recyclable, offering you a
complete solution.

The pallet design consists of many elements, which has its own
terminology and jargon. A pallet is described by its size, its components
and materials.
The Pallite®
explained
Tubes – The spirally wound tubes found inside the
PallRuns, add impressive vertical strength. They are
made with laminated layers of fibreboard to exact
size specifications so they give consistent
performance and fit snugly inside the PallRun.
Deck – Is the component of
our Pallite® that your products
are loaded onto.
Manufactured from
honeycomb fibre ‘cells’ and
lined with wet strength kraft
papers for maximum moisture
resistance and performance.
Honeycomb board decks
provide a flat, slat free surface.
Pallites® decks are all a
nominal 25mm thick. Medium
and Heavy deck options are
available. No ‘layer’ or ‘pallet’
boards required as they are
sometimes used with wooden
and plastic pallet versions as
there are no gaps for product
to fall through!
PallRun bearers – Two laminated ‘U’ profiles bonded
together to encase the tubes. PallRun bearers can be
manufactured to suit all standard pallet sizes and
requirements. Special sizes can also be produced. The
Standard height being 120mm, 90mm wide and lengths to
suit the application. Tubes are spaced every 100mm for
maximum load carrying capability.
Edge Protection – used to protect
the deck for when the pallet load
needs to be strapped to the pallet
itself.

The Pallite®
explained
Conveyor frame – Flat, 100mm wide laminated
fibreboards that can be added to the base of the
PallRuns, so Pallites® can be used on conveyor systems
and palletisers. Wooden versions are referred to as
‘stringers’. Available on four & two way Pallite® versions
and as a full or part frame in several different varieties
for UK standard, Euro and bespoke pallet sizes.

The benefits of double stacking loads mean you can in many
circumstances, halve your transportation costs. The dangers of
double stacking can mean the load becomes unstable or the top
contents of the bottom pallet become damaged by the top pallet.
By adding a pallet board, you can not only stabilise the load but
prevent damage to the boxes / load below.
The Pallite® Board is 25mm thick so offers substantially more protection
compared to a cardboard sheet and weighing less than 2kg, a lot less
than a chipboard separator.

Utilising the honeycomb technology, we are able to manufacture a
stackable pallet box in varying dimensions to suit most needs.
There are three standard designs:

Pallites® are made up of three elements – Recycled Paper, Kraft Paper
and Adhesive.
The Paper
This raw material originates from the corrugated and carton industry
and is widely available. We don’t use any writing or print paper, so the
card is not fragile and the trees the card is pulped from are a specially
grown breed for
paper making, so not
hardwoods from
rainforests!
The Glue
All of Pallite’s® components are laminated together and assembled
into pallets using a PVA adhesive as widely used in most packaging
sectors that supply the food and pharmaceutical sectors.
There are no nails, screws or splinters in our Pallites®
What’s a
Pallite®
made from?
- 12 -
Our pallets have been fully performance accredited by several third
parties using recognized standards and certified testing bodies.
Our (heavy deck) UK Standard pallet has been independently tested in
all aspects of use by SCA Laboratories – details available upon request.
Our (heavy deck) UK Standard pallet has also undergone stringent
transit & vibration testing, conducted by PIRA to ASTM D4169-09
standards.
We are also continually
performance testing newly
manufacture products ‘in house’
to ensure our pallets achieve the
performance levels we expect
from them.
Testing
We’re also not
afraid to test our
pallets for
strength against
some pretty
heavy and ad
hoc objects!

We are more than happy to arrange the delivery of any pallet
requirements, and welcome the opportunity to work with our customers
who prefer to collect orders from our premises with the use of their own
vehicles.
All Pallites® that are delivered or ready for collection are wrapped and
labelled with their destination.

Food manufacturer
We were asked by a packing supplier of a
major food manufacturer to look at a
fibreboard alternative to wooden pallets,
which were causing quality complaints due to
splinters and nails.
The load the pallet needed to carry is a single
‘big bag’ where the material carried is
granulated and acts the same as a liquid.
While the load itself is 1,000kg, this load type is
particularly difficult for a typical fibreboard
pallet.
The pallets are used to export the goods all over
the world and can sit in containers in transit for
many weeks.
The Alternative Pallets Company’s solution was
to offer a version of our Pallite that included a
double deck, so further spreading the difficult
load type and securing the load.
The organization has been using Pallites now for
over two years without issue and have
eliminated the potential for quality complaints
from nails and splinters.

Automotive sector
A second tier automotive manufacturer had
experienced significant manufacturing issues in
their own facility which put them behind
schedule for the assembly customer.
The wooden oversize pallet used was
prohibitive for use in
airfreight, (high cost) which was their only
choice to ensure continuity of supply as their
conventional shipping route was no longer
possible in the timeframe.
The Alternative Pallet Company speedily
produced a Pallite® equivalent, which was duly
approved and supplied.
The Pallite product
proved so durable
and cost effective
compared to the old
pallet that the
supplier has continued using the Pallite pallet
even after conventional shipping supplies had
caught up.
This gave the manufacturer an additional
benefit of loading extra product into the
container using the weight allowance saved
by the Pallites.

- 16 -
Born from an idea to give customers a viable alternative to wooden
pallets and
something stronger
than cardboard, The
Alternative Pallet
Company created
the Pallite®.
Market research and
initial product
development
started in 2009 with
the first orders being received a year later. Initially orders were
assembled by hand using bought in components, but in 2012 we
moved the business into a new factory where we could finally produce
our own product.
A new Production Director was brought in 2013 and our world class
manufacturing site is now capable of producing 100,000 Pallites® per
month.
Our vision is to continue to grow the business and produce high quality
Pallites® that consistently exceed the demands of our customers.
