Words are inadequate to express the humbleness and gratefulness we feel toward all of our friends who consoled us during the passing of our loved one. Your prayers, your love, your presence and services have sustained us. Your cards, telephone calls, texts, emails, visits and gifts of food were warmly appreciated. We saw all of these as God's love expressed through you. Whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you very much.

Life Journey of an Extraordinary Man
JW McCoppin was born June 5, 1946 in Abbeville County to the late J D & Biddie Mae Hudson McCoppin. He departed this life on March 3, 2018.
JW was a committed and faithful member of Rocky River AME Church where he served as a trustee and a steward for many years until he moved his membership to Flat Rock AME Church with his wife. JW loved the Lord and His word as he showed it in his favorite place which was in church school.
JW trusted in God in all things. He would always say “God will make a way, just trust Him”. JW was an extraordinary man big in stature, but bigger in love and heart. He loved all of his family dearly.
JW was educated in Abbeville county schools. He was employed with Rocky River Plant of Calhoun Falls, SC for over 30 years. He served the community as a part of the Men Club of Antreville, the Fire Department of Antreville where he retired, and had just rejoined to continue to serve the community. He was a member of the Dreher Masonic Lodge #370 of Abbeville SC.
JW owned his own Lawn & Yard Service, J & J business, as well as being known as Mr. Fix-it for the community and others. JW loved his race car, where he and his son raced not only cars but motorcycles as well. He ran the tree lights for Ware Shoals drag way for 12 years and he drove in many races and won.
JW leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Kathleen Tolbert McCoppin, three daughters, Monike Macedo of North Carolina, April D. McCoppin of Antreville, and Annette Lee of Greenville, two sons, Barry Lee of Starr, SC, and Mandell Brownlee of Anderson SC; two grandchildren reared in the home, his beloved Coreea Allen and Jamaiyo Strughilll; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister Rev. Sandra M. Smith; three brothers, Samuel McCoppin, James Groves and Marshall McCoppin all of Antreville; and one aunt, Freddie R. Hudson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
JW was preceded in death by his parents, JD and Biddie Mae Hudson McCoppin; one son Adarryll McCoppin; three sisters, Linda McCoppin, Airlethia M. Sutton, and Neomi M. Clinkscales; three brothers, John S. McCoppin, Calvin McCoppin, Sr., and Johnnie Ray McCoppin.
