Palitaw Twist
Desiccated Coconut Products from the Philippines has lots of surprising twist when it comes to rice cakes!
Are you tired of eating an ordinary palitaw (Flat Rice Cake)? Want to have a special recipe to make your palitaw more tastier than ever.
Try this palitaw recipe with a twist of yema!
Ingredients
2 Cups of Glutinous Rice Flour
1 Cup of Water
½ Cup of Granulated White Sugar
1 Cup of Yema (Prepared Seaparately or Can be bought)
1 Cup of Desiccated Coconut
½ Cup of Sesame Seeds
Procedures
In order to make our special flat rice cake, we have to mix the flour with water.
You can form small balls of dough and then flatten it by pressing.
To add our twist, we just have to put small amount of yema inside our small doughs before pressing them a bit.
The term “palitaw” means “to float”, and that’s what we will do with our dough. We have to put them in a pan or bowl with boiling water. Wait until the dough float. That means the palitaw is cooked and we have to drain them.
Procedures
After draining, we have to roll them in a plate with desiccated coconut and sugar. Sprinkle with sesame seeds afterwards to add extra flavor.
