Around 36,000 professionals, including doctors, engineers and teachers, have migrated to other count r ies from Pakistan over the past 30 years (~$2 billion annual net loss).

Instead of stopping people from finding bet ter opportunit ies abroad, we must focus on and help those who want to move back and make a difference in their count ry of or igin.

Our research shows that expats have a st rong desire to move back to do impact ful work but require engagement and support .

THE PAKATHON STORYPakathon is the brainchild of Asad Badruddin and Zheela Qaiser. The pair wanted to help make a real posit ive impact in Pakistan and wondered if there was a way to do so aside from just donat ing money. They concluded that the Pakistani diaspora must also feel this way.

This is why they created Pakathon, they dreamed of a global nervous system around the world that could helps Pakistani?s deepen their relat ionship to Pakistan, and exposes them to different cultures and prespect ives. From its humble beginnings in a cafe in Boston, the organizat ion has grown leaps and bounds. Asad and Zheela were r ight about their assumpt ion as hundreds of volunteers from around the world have taken the Pakathon mission to their local cit ies.

We are a 501c3 non-profit seed fund that mentors and invests in Pakistani expats moving back to launch for-profit social ventures. We get referrals for the best candidates through our volunteer chapters around the world that engage with the Pakistani diaspora through social entrepreneurship workshops. Our flagship workshop is a global hackathon held simultaneously across our chapters that connects participants to domain experts and investors.
