100 Indian fishermen as a good-will gesture amidst tensionsbetween the two countries afterthe Pulwama terror attack.
The fishermen released onSaturday were part the secondbatch of 360 Indian prisonersPakistan has announced to setfree in four phases this month.
Pakistan had released firstbatch of 100 Indian fishermen onApril 7.
“Another 100 Indian fisher-men were released from MalirJail in Karachi as a goodwill ges-ture, officials said.
They were being taken toLahore through train where theywould be handed over to theIndian authorities at Wagah bor-der on Monday.
The fishermen were arrestedfor fishing illegally in Pakistaniwaters during various operations.
Pakistan had released firstbatch of 100 Indian fishermen onApril 7.
Another 100 will be freed onApril 22 and the process will becompleted on April 29 when 55fishermen and 5 prisoners shallbe released.
Pakistan and India frequently
arrest fishermen as there is noclear demarcation of the mar-itime border in the Arabian Seaand these fishermen do not haveboats equipped with the technol-ogy to know their precise loca-tion. (PTI)
