The history of the Maestria Group began during

the sixties when Paul Maes, a chemical engineer

perfected glycerophtalic lacquers, which are

special in that they are ready for use. Commercial

success is immediate and the company rapidly

begins exporting beyond the borders of France.

Better still, this allows the founders to base the

companys growth on innovation on an ongoing

basis.

Sales of Maestria paints increased year on year both in France and abroad while their labs

were equipped with increasingly sophisticated equipment and the size of the factory grew.

The Group then purchased the Julien Anticorrosion company adding to the diversity of

its range of hi-tech products. They also purchased Somefor, giving them access to the

major retail market and increasing international recognition.

The spirit of innovation and respect for the environment has been passed on from father

to son in the Maes household, Benot Maes has launched pilot schemes within the Group

to integrate eco-design at the level of research operations and in the creation of new

products through the implementation of an internal charter which actually exceeds the

scope of legal requirements. This commitment to sustainable development and customer

protection reflects the values of the Groups founders which persist to this day: innovation

and respect for the environment and people.

Maestria produces 55,000 tonnes of paint per

year and offers a range of 8,000 different paints

and coatings for floors, roads, buildings, decora-

tion and artwork. They are well-established

throughout the national territory and supported

by an efficient logistics system, the Group also

has an international presence in Eastern Europe,

Brazil, Northern Africa and Asia.

Maestria is able to produce paint on a large scale

but can also provide competitive and sustainable

solutions for industry, public authorities and the

general public thanks to its unique know-how and

the high-performance production facilities of the

R&D department.

Maestria products have been used in construction

products such as the Frejus tunnel, the Perrache

SNCF bridge in Lyon, Marseille port and the

Georges 5 car park in Paris

for road safety services

The paints, cold and hot coatings and dual-

component products in the range are NF

ASQUER certifi ed for white road markings.

Colour versions are also used to mark out

public spaces (pavements, pedestrian zones,

islands, handicapped parking spaces) and for particular types of road markings

(roundabouts, cycle lanes, left turns...). These products are toxin-free, fl exible, high-

performance and long-lasting, they meet all road marking requirements and contribute to

protecting the user and the environment, as well as the safety of road users.

> Trade coating: greater respect

for the environment and health

The building range includes interior

decoration paints (90,000 shades),

exterior paints, paint for woodwork and a range

of anti-rust treatments. In order to comply with

new health and environmental requirements, the

Maestria R&D department has developed a

range of products without volatile organic

compounds (VOC) as well as paints based on

renewable resources which will eventually be

extended to the whole building range. Maestria

already offers a range of Ecolabel and NF

Environnement paints which comply with interior

and exterior HQE standards.

Our exterior and interior fl oor

coatings have been specifi cally designed for

industrial buildings, car parks, medical

premises and farm buildings, nuclear

power stations and public spaces. They

are constantly kept up to date with the

latest technical and environmental

requirements concerning fl oors through

our mastery of various technologies: epoxy, polyurethane, methacrylate... Better still, the

Maestria R&D department anticipates the evolution of regulatory requirements and has

developed solutions which do not contain solvents, carcinogenic compounds, mutagens,

compounds which are toxic for reproduction or which are water-soluble.

> Anti-corrosion systems: produced

by Julien Anticorrosion

The systems developed by this anti-

corrosion company can be used to protect

works of art, pylons and nuclear, petro-

chemical and metallurgical equipment. The

whole range of products is free of compounds

toxic for reproduction and has low rates of VOCs,

making them good for health and the

environment. Julien anti-corrosion systems are

certifi ed by the ACQPA, the OHGPI and

recommended by EDF, ERDF, SNCF, Les Ponts

et Chausses, petroleum companies
