The funding would be used for general investigation of Port Everglades Harbor, including peerreview. A feasibility study conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has determinedthat in order to serve Port Everglades' current and future shipping tenants, deeper and widerchannels are required. The Port has been working with the Army Corps of Engineers since1997 on a feasibility study to determine the most effective way to deepen and widen Portchannels. The study will recommend widening and deepening the Outer and Inner EntranceChannels; the Main Turning Basin; and the Southport Access Channel (including the TurningNotch), a possible new turning facility at the intersection of the Dania Cutoff Canal and theIntracoastal Waterway, as well as improvements on the Dania Cutoff Canal.I certify that neither I nor my spouse has any financial interest in this project.
