Certified May 28, 2020 Becky Bartley Land Development Director, Osage County, Kansas ******************************* Rosie Blacketer | Reporter OSAGE CITY — With the announcement by Osage County Health Director Jackie Patterson, RN, BSN, of the COVID-19 reopening order for Osage County and sports resuming, summer softball and baseball games are now being organized. Osage City Parks and Recreation Director Corey Linton announced that Jones Park Ball Complex opened May 28. Fields three and four will be open to the public, but ball field rest- rooms will be closed. Field two and Hultgren Field will be closed. Linton said the Osage City parks are now open to the public, however, Lin- coln Park play equipment and the tank will not be available until June 15. All park restrooms will remain closed until June 15. Osage City Aquatic Center still plans to open June 15. Due to all organized sports being cancelled for the summer, Chris Mullins and a host of volunteers are working to organize sandlot summer pick-up games. After the opening was an- nounced, Mullins posted on his Facebook page, “Anyone willing to help with pick-up baseball/softball games for our kids? Show up, split up, pick new teams each time, play ball? Youth ages six to 13, depends on night of the week. As of May 28, we can do this if enough interest. Let the kids play. Everyone welcome. No drinks, snacks and no bathroom provided at field. I’m willing to ump as much as I can and help organize a few games with enough interest.” Within minutes of Mul- lins’ post, there were 59 comments in support of the idea. Within a few hours, Mullins had a new message indicating there would be Sandlot Summer Games every Thursday evening in June. Times will vary by age group and number of participants. Children ages six and seven will play 5:30 to 7:15 p.m.; ages eight to ten from 5 to 7:15 p.m. and ages 11 to 13 from 7:15 p.m. to dark. If enough individuals are interested, a second night will be added. There will also be a 14 to 18 age group that will play 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, starting June 8. This is strictly for fun and will not be traditional softball or baseball. Boys and girls may play each other if not enough players are available. Teams will be picked before each game, and participants will not be on the same team each time. If individuals want to form their own teams, Mullins will help umpire or find umpires on any night other than Monday or Thursday. Mullins went on to create a Facebook page, “Pick-up games Osage City 2020,” to keep up with the latest information on the group. For more information, call Mullins at (785) 338-3097. “Hope we can let the kids play and have fun,” he said. “Pick-up baseball is strictly for fun. Let’s bring back the heart of the game.” Sandlot games planned for summer MidAmerica Nazarene University announces honor rolls OLATHE — MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe, announced its president’s, dean’s list and honor roll for the spring 2020 semes- ter. OSAGE CITY — With the announcement by Osage County Health Director Jackie Patterson, RN, BSN, of the COVID-19 reopening order for Osage County and sports resuming, summer softball and baseball games are now being organized.

Osage City Parks and Recreation Director Corey Linton announced that Jones Park Ball Complex opened May 28. Fields three and four will be open to the public, but ball field rest-rooms will be closed. Field two and Hultgren Field will be closed.

Linton said the Osage City parks are now open to the public, however, Lin-coln Park play equipment and the tank will not be available until June 15. All park restrooms will remain closed until June 15. Osage City Aquatic Center still plans to open June 15.

Due to all organized sports being cancelled for the summer, Chris Mullins and a host of volunteers are working to organize sandlot summer pick-up games.

After the opening was an-nounced, Mullins posted on his Facebook page, “Anyone willing to help with pick-up baseball/softball games for our kids? Show up, split up, pick new teams each time, play ball? Youth ages six to 13, depends on night of the week. As of May 28, we can do this if enough interest. Let the kids play. Everyone welcome. No drinks, snacks and no bathroom provided at field. I’m willing to ump

as much as I can and help organize a few games with enough interest.”

Within minutes of Mul-lins’ post, there were 59 comments in support of the idea.

Let’s bring back the heart of the game.”

All students in traditional programs carrying 12 se-mester hours or more with a term GPA from 3.2 to 4.0 may qualify for one of these academic honors. Neutral credit hours are excluded from the calculation and reduce the course load used to figure the honor.
