Polo at a Glance Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup for the British Open at Cowdray Park. Today in Group One, Les Lions defeated 1870 10-8 to take second spot behind La Bamba de Areco in that group. In Group Two, Piaget completed a perfect 4-0 run with a 12-8 win over La Golondrina.

2011 East Coast Open in Greenwich. Wednesday morning, White Birch de-feated Heathcote 12-8 and in the afternoon Endeavour defeated Airstream 9-7.

Mashomack: Saturday, Final of the USPA Tracey Mactaggart 8 Goal, Shek-omeko/Longfield Green vs. Heathcote at 11 am. The Eddy Moore will start tomorrow for a final on the 31st. Seven teams entered in a single bracket, everyone plays each other. See the beginning of the schedule below, with the weather being what it is, teams will be ready to play as soon as there is a dry day after a rain out.

Polo in the Park, the Crab Orchard Invitational 14 goal. Polo in the Park kicked off today at the Kentucky Horse Park on the John Henry field. Crab Orchard and Villa del Lago kicked off the month of the best 14 goal polo in the country. Villa del Lago began with a 3 goal advantage as they are only an 11 goal team. It took Crab Orchard until mid way through the third chukker to catch Villa del Lago and end the half in front by 1 goal. The game was smooth as umpires Bradley Biddle & Jorge Vasquez kept a tight rein on the players. Crab Orchard controlled the second half of the game with a victory of 12-7. (game report Gay Bredin) One game tomorrow and Saturday, two games on Sunday.

Big weekend of games at Southampton this past weekend to catch up with rained-out games in June. In the 4 Goal summer League: Palmer’s defeated Black Knights 8-4; Cata-lina defeated FNY 8-4; Black Knights defeat2d Value Holdings 10-6; Sands Bros defeated Ikepod 6-5 and Van Lith 8 defeated Value Holdings 8-2.
