Toots Magers has been having a bad backache, but saw the doctor on Saturday, and didn’t make it to church on Sunday, but says she is feeling better.
Kathy Van Meter and Lloyd Frandsen attended the annual Tri-Valley supper at the Ella Missing Center on June 8, in Arapahoe, Neb. We were sorry to hear that Kathy Van Meter fell, causing compound fractures in her back, and is in a lot of pain. We pray for a fast recovery.
June Jolly went to Willow Ridge for their KT Club on Thursday, played cards Friday and helped the Eagles do Bingo Saturday.
Gary and Cathy Anthony took Windy Kuhlman and children out to dinner on Sunday.
Joyce Sumner went for a fun day with her family Sunday eveining at the special
playground Greg has fi xed for the kids. Later, she visited Ivy Rolland at the Andbe Home.
Dwight Wood is looking forward to having teeth pulled (not). After being on so much medication over the years, they are not good. We hope he gets along well.
Visitors at my home have been Carol Moye and great-granddaughters. They played with the dog and Kylie pulled Skylar in the wagon. We had some of Denny’s birthday cake, brought to him by Kimber Robinson. Other guests have been Brandy Cohart, Tielia High and her children, Emily, Mariah, Garrett and Grant. I succeeded in getting the kids to try gooseberry pie and three out of four liked it. It was a big favorite of their grandpa.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment sam-ples recreational bodies of water for cyanobacteria, commonly called blue-green algae, when the agency is alerted to a poten-tial algae bloom.
The department reminds visi-tors that when a lake is under an Advisory or Warning, ma-rinas, lakeside businesses and park camping facilities remain open for business, although swim beaches will be closed. Park drinking water and show-ers are safe and not affected by the algae bloom. Also, it is safe to eat fi sh caught during a harm-ful blue-green algae outbreak, as long as consumers clean and rinse the fi sh with clean, potable water; consume only the fi llet portion; and discard all other parts.
WARNING Status: High levels of toxic blue-green algae have been detected. A Public Health Warning indicates that water conditions are unsafe and direct water contact (wading, skiing and swimming) is pro-hibited.
Kansas public water currently under a “Warning” status:
Memorial/Veterans Lake - Great Bend, Barton County
When a Warning is issued, the department recommends the
following precautions be taken:·Humans, pets and livestock
do not drink lake water·Water contact is prohibited.
Avoid swimming, wading or other activities with full body contact of lake water
·Clean fi sh and rinse with clean water, consume only the fi llet portion, and discard all other parts
·Do not allow pets to eat dried algae
·If lake water contacts skin or pet fur, wash with clean potable water as soon as possible
·Avoid areas of algae accumu-lation
ADVISORY Status: Harm-ful blue-green algae have been detected. A Public Health Advi-sory indicates that a hazardous condition exists. Water activi-ties like boating and fi shing may be safe; however, direct contact with water (i.e., wading, swim-ming) is strongly discouraged for people, pets and livestock.
Kansas public waters current-ly under “Advisory” status:
Lovewell Reservoir, Jewell County
Milford Lake, Geary, Riley and Clay Counties
Overland Park South Lake, Johnson County
Logan City Lake, Phillips County
Old Herington City Lake, Dickinson County
Marion Reservoir, Marion County
Marion County Lake, Marion County
Winfi eld City Lake, Cowley County
The department recommends the following precautions be taken:

·Clean fi sh and rinse with clean water, consume only the fi let portion, discarding other parts
·Do not eat or allow pets to eat dried algae
·If lake water comes in con-tact with skin or pet fur, wash with clean potable water as soon as possible
