From Our Pastor
Congratulations to all our students who
received the Sacrament of Confirmation last
week. We had a very beautiful celebration
with Bishop Tylka. All the hard work that went
into the preparations for Confirmation was very
much appreciated.
This weekend we are able to return to one of
our long-standing traditions of recognizing
marriage anniversaries. Each month we invite
those couples celebrating major anniversaries
to be present for a blessing. Over the past
year, we were not able to recognize many
couples who anniversaries passed during the
pandemic. These couples have also been
invited to come forward at a convenient time
as well. We have many blessings to count and
it is good to be able to celebrate them again.
The month of May is around the corner. Let us
continue our celebration of the Easter Season
under the protection of the Virgin Mary. This is
a very good month to show our devotion to the
Blessed Mother, especially through the Rosary.
May will also bring us to the end of this school
year. It has been a most unusual year, but one
that has also come with great blessings as we
focused on so many elements of our parish life
that we should never take for granted. You
can help us continue to grow:
Please encourage those who have been
away to safely return to regular Mass
attendance.
Please recommend St. Thomas School to
families you know with young children who
may benefit from the great advantages of
a Catholic education.
Please join us for adoration or holy hours,
attend upcoming social events, and
volunteer for parish activities.
Please encourage those who should
become Catholic to plan to join us for next
year’s RCIA class. Please also pray for
vocations to the priesthood and religious
life.
Please encourage interested persons to
apply for the various openings we have at
St. Thomas School as we prepare for a new
school year in the fall.
May St. Thomas the Apostle watch over our
parish!
-Msgr. Gray

Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at
least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already
there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be
separated from You. Amen.
Criticism of others is thus an oblique form of self-commendation.
We think we make the picture hang straight on our wall by
telling our neighbors that all his pictures are crooked.

Stop the repeal of parental
notice of abortion
There are 2 bills in the Illinois State legislature being considered in this Spring session, one in the House and one in the Senate, to repeal the hard-won law protecting parents' rights to have a say in whether life-changing procedures are performed on their daughters. It is URGENT that our voices be heard now.
Please take just a few minutes to contact your state reps and senators through this link: https://www.ilcatholic.org/take-action/action-center/?vvsrc=%2fCampaigns
Or go to ilcatholic.org/take-action (IL Catholic Conference website) and follow the tabs to Stop repeal of parental notification of abortion. It's especially important to contact Rep Jehan Gordon-Booth, as she is on the Rules Committee, considering this bill.

Women’s Care Center
Baby Bottle Campaign 2021
Women’s Care Center Peoria is having their annual Baby Bottle Campaign to help assist their mission.
Since 2013, our Center, located on North University is the only place where women can both make a decision for life and receive the necessary services such as counseling, pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, parenting classes- all confidential and free of charge. While many places closed during the pandemic, because of your generosity and support and our dedicated staff, our Center's doors remained open. Just in 2020, 490 babies were born to moms served by our Center.
This year we have created a 2 minute video about the Women's Care Center Baby Bottle campaign featuring a quick tour of our Center along with an overview about the work we do. Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/xN1o1VmmDBE.
And because of the pandemic , this year we are using an envelope with a Baby Bottle picture in place of the actual baby bottle. If you feel you can make a gift to support our 100% privately funded ministry please know any amount does make a vital, life affirming difference in the lives of these mothers and babies. Lastly, we humbly ask for your prayers. Our staff, clients and donors are always in need of prayer support. We thank you in advance for your thoughtful generosity. May God bless you and keep you safe and healthy during these unprecedented times.
When you go the poor, you encounter Jesus
Dear fellow parishioners:
COVID has affected many individuals and families – especially
those already on the cusp of poverty. The St. Vincent de Paul
Society has been providing additional funding to help our neighbors in
need with emergency assistance, especially for rent and utilities. With 10
million Americans currently behind in rent payments, we anticipate that
the need for assistance will grow in the coming months.
St. Thomas has generously supported the food pantry and that is truly
appreciated. It is a frightening time for people struggling to keep their
lives together, and the availability of food, including milk, fresh
produce and meats, has increased.
If you are able, please consider prayerfully donating to The St. Vincent de
Paul Society to support those most affected by COVID-19 who can use a
helping hand.
We also invite any of you who would be interested in helping with this very
rewarding ministry to join us.
Thank you, and may the presence of Christ’s fill your hearts.
Linda Waible
For I was hungry, and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me
something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked
and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in
prison and you visited me.
