Health & Human Services Our Health & Human Services class has been quite busy. They have
been hosting preschool playgroups which have been quite popular. For
the first time ever, NNEC was able to offer childcare services to parents
while they attended parent-teacher. This was a great opportunity for our
students to gain experience prior to their work placement in June.
CEP Students of the Month Congratulations to Alannah Peppard (Health and Human Services), Hayli MacDonald (Food Studies), Jax Dean (Building), and Jansen Langille (Auto)! They were each recognized as the Student of the Month for their positive contributions in their respective shops! Way to go!
Future of Work: Mentoring Plus Ms. Delorey’s English 10 classes recently participated in
a Future of Work session. This session is program in
partnership with Dalhousie University, Town of New
Glasgow and NNEC. Through this program, students
were able to speak to mentors about their occupation.
This experience allows students to learn about the many
future career choices available.
A huge thank you is extended to our Mentors:
Bill Skinner - Pharmacist
Jessie Parkinson - Lawyer
Mike Vienneau - Trades
John Cameron - Entrepreneurship
Joan MacDonald - Teaching
Bob Funke - Engineering
Kevin Harvey - Journalism

These students were selected by St. FX based on their performance in mathematics.
Maya Goldchtaub, Katilyn Jota and Emily Yatsynovich will spend a weekend working with professors from the math
department tackling a variety of activities to expose them to potential careers in mathematics. This opportunity will give these students a chance to preview the academic
world at the university level.
