FIRST MONTH OF SCHOOL!
We are starting our second month of school and I can say that we are doing
just fine getting familiar with all the activities, schedule and happenings in
school and in class. I can see how our students enjoy interacting, playing and
learning with their classmates. Our teachers and students have a good start to
a lasting foundation in their early childhood learning and development. As al-
ways, I thank you for being a part of this very important phase of their educa-
tion. Everything you do at home helps tremendously and it shows when they
come to school. This will be a great year!
- Ana Paula (Director)
Important reminder:
For everyone’s safety, please follow proper traffic flow and directional
signs in the parking lot. Thank you.
SUCCESSFUL OPEN HOUSE
Thank you for coming to our Open House. It means a lot to see our parents
and families show some love and support for our students and our school.

ST. PHILIP FEST and CUPCAKE WALK
St. Philip Fest was held on the new land on Sunday, Sept. 24th. It was a wonderful day
with an opening Mass followed by a Cross-raising Ceremony. A large wooden cross was
constructed for this event and signed by all parish families. It was heart-warming to
watch and be part of this momentous occasion.
Little Apostles also joined in on the festivities with a Cupcake Walk. Our staff and fami-
lies donated their time, talent, and resources to make this activity a success! We are
very grateful!
FIRE FIGHTERS PROJECT
The Fire Fighters were one of the topics of investigation in all classes. The chil-
dren were able to tell and show the teachers what they already know about
these important community helpers, and from there, they were off to new dis-
coveries. They studied the fire truck and its shapes, the tools the firemen carry,
the way the water gets to the hose, the clothes, mask and so on. They also took
a moment to learn about fire safety, looking around for fire hydrants, sprin-
klers, smoke alarm and exit doors. Everybody in school did well in our first fire
drill of the year, exiting the building fast and safe!
The high point of the project was the visit from the Lewisville Fire Department. Many
classes prepared “Thank you” cards and drawing to show our appreciation for all they
do for us. Because of all the work done in class prior to the visit, the children were
comfortable and ready to meet the firemen. They had questions to ask, sketches to
draw, tools to count, measurements to take and comparisons to make. There was a
lot of learning going on and the firemen were excited and happy to see the children
so involved in the visit.
BLURBS... The Toddlers are off to a great start! They were “all aboard” and ready to
learn from Day One! We are learning classroom routines such as praying
before snack and lunch, and cleaning up our table afterwards. In This
month we learned All About Me, especially our faces, hands, fingers, and
we sang a lot of fun songs. Our class loves puzzles. We are working on a
new challenge- putting together puzzles made from photos of our own fac-
es. Every day, we explore with all of our five senses, especially when Ms.
Tanya comes for Art class on Wednesdays. We prepared for our Firefighter
Visit by reading about firefighters, looking at photos of real
firefighters, doing Art center activities about firefighters, talk-
ing about what they wear, dressing up as a firefighter and using
our “hose” to put out fires. We are looking forward to fun fall
activities in October! ~ Ms. Sarah
Hello! I’m Denise Koga, your new Curriculum Coordinator. I’ve been working
in education for 16 years. I taught children from 1 to 6 years old and was also a
curriculum coordinator for about 7 years in Brazil.
I had a degree in Psychology when I started teaching little kids and fell in love
with it! So I went back to school and took up Education. I did my post-graduate
in Inclusive Education and Teacher Training & Preschool Management.
With this new positon I am able to support the teachers; helping with lesson
planning, making sure our children are exposed to different fields of
knowledge required by Texas Education Agency, and assisting in implement-
ing project-based learning here at Little Apostles.
I love working with our wonderful teachers, your children and you! Please feel free to stop by and chat.
We’re off to a great
start! The past few weeks
we have had so much fun
exploring the world around
us. We have talked about
our families, our pets, our
new and old friends and
overall worked to become
comfortable in our wonder-
ful school! We have been
hard at work creating our
“All About Me” books that
we can’t wait to share them
with our loved ones at Open
House. We are looking for-
ward to October when we
continue to discover the
world around us and learn
about the autumn season!

Our MWF TWOs have been busy! They have mastered the morning rou-
tine, from identifying their own cubbies, washing hands, finding their fa-
vorite blue chair, morning prayer, snack and story time. They also draw
with crayons daily for fine motor skills and dramatic play in the puppet
theater for social skills and oral language skills. Over the past few weeks
we have learned about how God created us all uniquely different from our
eyes to our hair color. We have learned about geometric shapes; circle,
square and rectangle are shapes found on our fire trucks. We compared the
size of a fire truck tire to ourselves. We have identified the special people
in our families: moms, dads, brothers and sisters. In art, we learned about
the five senses supported by the painting of “Cinderella By The Kitchen
Fire” by Thomas Sully. Fun and busy first month learning! ~ Ms. Norma
October will bring new discoveries with the changing season. We will con-
tinue to use all five senses, and fine motor skills. ~ Ms. Norma
“A child has a special way of adding joy to everyday!”

The MWF Pre-K has been working diligently to learn the classroom rou-
tine. They are learning to do things for themselves and learning to help each
other. They have begun to learn each other’s names and learning to spell their
own name. They have been working on using the correct tripod hold when
holding a crayon and learning to control the scissors when cutting paper. It has
been a very busy month! October will be filled with experiments using the
five senses! It will be a fun month! ~Ms. Marcie
Welcome to the 3 year old class! The students had a good start to the school year. Everyone was excited to
see their friends and thrilled to welcome new friends.
We are getting used to our daily routine in class and everyone is having fun finding out what jobs they have
in class for the day. The first couple of weeks we have been learning our shapes and looking for them in-
side our classroom.
The kiddos are excited learning and discovering every day, not just in class but also in Religion, Movement
and Science! ~ Ms. Ir ma
It’s hard to believe that September is already over. Ms. Sabine and I are learning more about our children
every day. We start and end each day with "circle time". In the mornings we start with a welcome
song. We've talked about feelings and our morning song is our time to tell everyone how we're feeling each
day. We have gone from "fine", "not fine" and even grunts to more feelings like sleepy, shy, excited,
thoughtful and others. We also work on our calendar, we say the pledge, and we discuss their favorite -
centers.
We have different centers to incorporate learning and play. We
spend this time working on our class projects and having fun
while we learn. In building and creative play, we've been able
to "play" our different themes - like community helpers and all
about me. In science center they get to play with a science bin
with such things and movement, color and magnets. In math,
we have different games to help us learn more about our num-
bers. We have a literacy/writing center where we "write". This
can be anything from practicing our name and working on letter
sounds, to writing in our journals.
We always end our day with story time and our goodbye
song.
I'm looking forward to the month of October!
~ Ms. Jennifer (5day Pre-K)
