DIRECTORS REPORTS
Mr. Walter’s Report
This season is in full swing and everything is moving along smoothly. Mr. Walter is now at middle school for part of his day teaching
the 8th grade band. We are looking into possibly participating in Solo ensemble and maybe Festival. Festival is in Livonia Franklin, the
entire band plays for a panel of judges and get graded. It is an good experience for the band and the students. This hasn’t been attended
in about 7 years. Solo Ensemble is for students who want to play grow individually. The would play for a panel of judges and are graded
and awarded. State Ensemble is a possibility if they qualify. Festival will only be for Symphonic Band.

SBB MEETING MINUTES CONTINUED…… Meeting date | time 9/13/18 | 7:06 | Meeting location Southgate Anderson Library
OLD BUSINESS N/A
NEW BUSINESS Vendor show is scheduled for 11/16 and 11/17. Plans are going good. We need heavy lifters to help move tables around and help set up
for the show. A signup genius will be coming soon. It is mandatory to volunteer one out of the 2 days. We need heavy lifters to teardown
also. Will have concessions, travel concessions, raffle tickets and will need helpers for that. Plan on advertising in papers and maybe TV,
possibly sign on fort and eureka. Have 65 tables sold. M2M had 175. Duplicates are a problem right now. We are having to turn people
away so we do not have too many Vendor/Crafters that are selling the same thing. Flyers will be sent out to the elementary schools.
Used book sale, Melissa Hurst offered to run it. Need to start donating used books now.We plan on funneling shoppers through the gym
first so that they see and purchase from vendors or crafters before reaching our tables near concessions. Need signs to direct people
toward concessions. M2M wanted shuttles and we are thinking about doing so for the Vendor show. Asked vendors for donations for
door prizes but plan to require a small donation from all participants next year. We will be charging $2 to get in. Q‐ Have we thought
about asking businesses to donate for baskets? A ‐ Individuals can but the board isn’t. Raffling off a TV and will begin selling tickets at
the Vendor & Craft Show, but will not be drawing until BAR. Q‐Kids come to show? Or just adults? Santa at the show?A – Yes, no and
Yes! Good idea. Any more questions email us and we will direct you to Diane Mazur.
Tag day is where all our students go out into our community and ask for donations and bottle returns. They offer to play for people in
return for the donations. Last year we made about $4000. Speelman’s have this down to a science. They have mapped out areas for each
driver. We will be going to BOTL winner that evening. Students have practice before tag day begins. If you are interested in learning
how to run this program, please let us know. Speelman’s only have 1 more year left. 2nd BOTL is in the works for 11/10. We will bus. Will
take about 2‐3 hours. We need this to make the budget. This tag day khakis and show shirt. Meeting here 1:30 for drivers.
Drivers and Snacks for competitions Chair will be Sara Rasizzi and Erica Manick. Snacks we do not need more bottled water. They will
release a list of needed items and or drivers needed on the FB page. Watch for information coming.
Trunk or Treat 10/28 3:30 – 4:30. Costs $10, you get to decorate your car and bring candy for 600 kids while allowing your children to
trick or treat around the parking lot. The idea is that it is a safe environment for your kids to trick or treat. We will have security at the
gates. No animals. No age limit. New this year so it may be a learning curve.
Volunteer opportunities: Pit crew, props (Eric), uniform, show day meals.
