The Moss Cabin Afghan
By Cristina Mershon
A timeless afghan for those cold winter days, for him or
her. This afghan mimics a knitted look by crossing the
double crochet groups into a crochet shell.
Yarn: Cascade Yarns Pacific Color Wave (40% merino
wool, 60% acrylic). 100 gr/213 yard balls.
Color: 310-Forest, 14 balls.
Hook: Size D-3.25 mm. Gauge is not crucial.
ABBREVIATIONS
beg = beginning
dc = double crochet
lps = loops
sc = single crochet
sp = space
st = stitch
rp = repeat
yo = yarn over
STICH GUIDE

Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc): Make a double crochet around the front of the post of the st
in previous rnd. Yo and insert hook from the front to the back around the post of the dc on the
previous row. Complete as for regular dc.
Back Post Small Crochet (bpsc): Make a small crochet around the back of the post of the st in
previous rnd. Yo and insert hook from the back to the front around the post of the st on the
previous row. Complete as for regular sc.
Front Post Small Crochet (fpsc): Make a small crochet around the front of the post of the st in
previous rnd. Yo and insert hook from the front to the back around the post of the st on the
previous row. Complete as for regular sc.
Reverse Single Crochet (rsc): Reverse single crochet is worked exactly like regular single
crochet except going left to right instead of right to left. At the end of an sc row, if the next row is
reverse sc, you do not turn, but twist your wrist and insert the crochet hook back into the stitch
just finished, work a sc, and continue in this way back across.
INSTRUCTIONS

SIDE EDGING. Now, we will work on the side small edging
to complete the look of the afghan.
Attach yarn to one of the long edges of the afghan.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in every sideways st across until the end of
the row, do not turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, rsc in every sc across until the end of the
row, fasten off and weave in ends.
Repeat the side edging on the opposite long side.
