Summer is in full swing!
Here it is, mid-July. As I write this the Forest Grove Concours in Oregon is next weekend, July 20th.
Don’t forget to RSVP to me for the August 5th Motoring Classic Kick-off Party at Peter Hageman’s firehouse in Kirkland. A previous invitation has gone out but most members don’t yet seem to have it on their radar screen, for few have RSVP’d to me. To provide adequate refreshment, I’d appreciate your reply if you plan to attend. Because so many of us in PNR will be attending the Pebble Beach experience there is NO board meeting in August. Our next board meeting will be Sept 4th at 5PM at the Danz Garage, as usual.
What else looms in the future? The Crescent Beach Concours up in B.C. is Saturday, August 31st. I think Laurel Gurnsey may still need a Classic or two on display or for judging. Seek out their website at: www.crescentbeachconcours.com for more information. If you are considering being a late entry, contact Laurel (604-980-7429) to discuss your plans.
In issue #3 of Bumper Bolts I mentioned the possibility of expanding the eligible full Classics to the club’s acceptable list. I noted in the national board meeting minutes that CCCA member Dave Kane planned to approach the board to consider other marques and models, such as the Packard 120 and the Woody.
Time shall tell the future of that. Stay tuned for more information.
Believe it or not…..we still have a few openings for the PNR hosted national CCCA CARavan that travels from Sept 8 to the 17th. Due to several unexpected cancellations, space has opened up. Because of contracts with hotels that require a minimum number of rooms be rented, (we pay for them even if they are not used) we are encouraging late signers to this CARavan. Most of the tour is in British Columbia, over some not previously traveled secondary roads. The scenery will be magnificent. If you do not have a Classic at this time but would like to go, please contact me ([email protected]) or 206-546-3306. It is quite possible we can fit you in as passengers into someone else’s Classic. I will be happy to discuss the costs factor with you (hotel rooms and activity fee, which consists of most meals.) Note a Washington state enhanced drivers license or a valid passport is required.
Our annual holiday party with the respective 2019 awards will be held on December 8th at the Seattle Yacht Club. Some may ask, “Why there again?” My answer is quite simple: price, accessibility and perhaps “tradition”. It seems conveniently located for members from all directions and is close to freeways. I do plan another silent auction like we have had in previous years. All proceeds go to the PNR/CCCA general budget. If you have items to donate, please bring them to the Sept 4th, Oct 2nd or Nov 6th meeting. I’d prefer items not be brought to the Dec 8th party as things are chaotic enough that day.
Wherever life’s highways take you this summer, enjoy yourselves and the wonderful car hobby.
