PASTEST PATIENT INFORMATION – PACES FILMING

WHO ARE PASTEST?

Pastest provide online revision, books and courses for medical students and doctors to help them achieve success in critical exams and tests. We have over 40 years’ experience and expertise in providing revision materials that enable doctors to achieve exam success and succeed in their careers.

WHAT IS PACES?

PACES is a clinical examination taken by junior doctors as they undergo their training to become members of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP).

Pastest offers an online video resource to help junior doctors pass their PACES exam. We are currently updating our PACES online resource and require patients to be filmed for our new videos. The videos are only available to doctors who subscribe to our service.

FILMING THE VIDEOS

Every patient will be called in advance of the filming day by Pastest to give them all the necessary information about the filming and what will happen on the day.

On the day of filming, a member of the Pastest team and two doctors will greet you when you arrive. The doctors will take your history and will ask you about your diagnosis. Before the filming starts they will examine you. After this, the filming will commence during which one of the doctors will do an examination on you, which takes 6 minutes. With this being a clinical case you may be asked to remove your top, we find females are most comfortable wearing a bikini top or sports bra. This is to allow the Dr to see any surgery scars and to listen clearly to your heart. We then take different shots and close-ups of any visible signs and we also take recordings of heart/lung sounds. This part takes around 40 minutes and the whole thing is usually about two hours.

If you would like a friend or family member to come with you, the studio provides a seating and kitchen area for them to make themselves comfortable while they wait. A television and free Wi-Fi are available on site.
