EXPLANATION NOTES:
The next 2 lessons will involve writing the ‘Estate Agents’
brochure.
• Look at the planning sheet completed last week.
• Use the planner to write the persuasive brochure.
• Remember you can use ICT or write on paper.
• Look back at some of the texts used to get a feel for
the style again.
• Add images or drawings; create a logo; maps etc. to
make it realistic like a brochure.
• Use the checklist for what should be included in a
persuasive text to help make it sell the house.
NOTE: not all features may appear in every piece of
persuasive writing but definitely include:
PERSUSIVE ADJECTIVES & ADVERBS. RHETORICAL
QUESTIONS are very powerful too.
• NOW WRITE- 1st DRAFT- not too much emphasis on
spelling and grammar at this stage but DEFINITELY
on the style required. (2nd draft can improve and
correct grammar/spelling)
EXPLANATION NOTES:
This lesson involves writing the 2nd draft.
In school we evaluate our writing using green for
growth and tickled pink. Mark good things in pink
e.g. a very powerful adverb. Mark places to insert
or change writing in green. E.g. add a rhetorical
question.
NOW REWRITE the text. Correcting spelling and
grammar mistakes that have been spotted. This is
not simply writing it out neatly. Changes to
improve should be made.
ADD IMAGES FROM INTERNET or DRAW IMAGES
OF HOUSES.
EXTENSION ACTIVITY
PERSUASIVE LETTER
Write your own persuasive letter. Think of a suitable person
to write to. Use the me letter format as used in the
comprehension. I have included a planning sheet to help
you. Concentrate on powerful language to get your message
across. Back your arguments up with evidence and facts.
