Reports

As it is sports day this week, we would like you to report on your lockdown sports day!

We have given you a planning frame to help you.

Tell us about your events, what score/time did your family achieve?

Did anything unusual happen?

Who won each event?

Once you have filled in your planning frame, try writing a more detailed report in your jotter or on paper.

Take photographs or draw a picture to finish off your report.

Extra – Record your report in the style of a sports commentator!

This week we will learn about:verbs and adverbs

Steps to Success

Steps to success

• I can identify a verb.• I can use verbs in a sentence.• I can use adverbs to describe

verbs when writing sentences.

Verbs are the most important words of all.

Every sentence must have a verb in it.

The verb tells us about the action.

The action words tell us what is being done in a sentence.

Read about what a verb is and take part in a short quiz by clicking on the link below.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zrqqtfr/articles/zpxhdxs

A verb is an action word. Verbs are the words for things that you can do, have done or will do.

Adverbs are words to explain how you did it,

for example: I ran quickly.

I shouted loudly.I wrote neatly.

Page 18: P4 Home Learning...Steps to Success Steps to success • I can identify a verb. • I can use verbs in a sentence. • I can use adverbs to describe verbs when writing sentences. Verbs

Remember that verbs are action words.

Copy this list of words and underline the words which are verbs.

Copy these 5 sentences into your jotter. Where there is a space you must write a verb to make the sentence make sense.

1. At school I -------------- on a chair.

2. A gardener can -------------- with a spade.

3. My dog Jessie can -------------- the door with her paw.

4. I like a sharp pencil when I ------------ my neat work.

Building ResilienceExpect the unexpectedAs part of the building resilience program the final part for this session is “expecting the unexpected”. This deals with lost and also with change, something we are all experiencing at the moment.

We cannot protect ourselves from change (however much we would like to). Sometimes it can be positive, other times it brings disappointment, difficulty or loss.

This program helps children to build resilience and understand there are things we can do to look after our mental health and wellbeing and prepare for a future full of unknowns.

NOW: look at the assembly PowerPoint.

Expect the Unexpected Task

Use the Ten Things poster on the next page to tell someone at home about the tools and how they help to

support your wellbeing. Can you name all the tools? Which tool has helped you recently? What tool do you

need to practice using?

Activity

Select one tool that is important to you and have a go at redesigning the image for it. Bring it into school and

explain to your class what tool it is, what the key messages mean and why the one you chose is important to

you.
