As you will be aware, all remaining Salford School Trustees havenow stepped down. This means a Commissioner will inevitablybe appointed.

In the circumstances I believe that the appointment of aCommissioner will be a positive step for the School.

In the meantime the investigation into the working environment atSalford over the last few years is continuing. That investigationhas obtained a large amount of material, and an interim summarywas given to me late last week. I expect a final report in a fewweeks.

However the material given to me and my concerns about thewelfare of staff in the current environment have persuaded me tosuspend Marlene Campbell from her role as Principal, while the

investigation continues.

In the interim Craig Tucker has been confirmed as ActingPrincipal. Parents can be assured that the School will continue tooperate on a 'business as usual' basis.

I fully appreciate that this is a significant step, but it is one which Iconsider to be necessary.

I do not intend to make any further comment about these mattersuntil the investigation has completed.
