Four more brothers are now Master Masons after our degree on 2/27. The Past Masters of this lodge were all invaluable as active participants and coaches to brothers taking roles for the first time. King Solomon (R.W. Frank Albinson) ruled supremely. More of your donations made it to the Masonic Home at the end of the month and stay on the lookout for items that you are tripping over

which can be donated. The big multi-lodge picnic is also on the horizon. Carrabas fundraiser on 3/19. Best lodge ever

Your Senior Warden

Br. Mark Brewer

My Brothers,For those of you that don’t attend Lodge meetings or the degree work are missing out. When you went through the first degree, were you surprised and impressed to see so many brothers there? I was. Would you have preferred to have had only three people there? probably not.

Being accepted into this fraternity and becoming a Master Mason requires work, lots of it. After you put in all that work, why would you abandon the Lodge and the Brothers who have invested their time and effort into you?

Fraternally,Your Junior Warden,

Br. James Duffy

March Masonic Cartoon

As one observes the increasing interest among Masons in the history and meaning ofthe various ceremonies of the Craft, one notices that one of the most popular objects ofthat interest is the Chamber of Reflection, a room meant to be used for the placement of acandidate before the commencement of his initia-tion. The purpose of such a room is to givethe candidate a period of time to medidate and reflect on what he is about to undertake. As this idea has recently become more intruiging to brethren, it behooves us to seek somekind of clarification amongst ourselves as to what this procedure is, and why it might beconsidered important to the initiation of a man into Freemasonry.

This kind of ceremony—of preparation for initia-tion by means of a period of isolation—has been with us since the beginning of recorded history, in any number of basic initiatic

rites. It is not anything strange or alien to the hu-man experience. It is, however, incrediblytransformative in the sense that it allows the candi-date to put away the everyday world heleft behind when he entered the temple, and focus his mind properly for what he is about toexperience. That is what we ask of the postulant in any case.We ask him to reflect on what he is about to do and why, so that he knows he does it ofhis own free will and accord, and therefore the Lodge can know that as well. Truly, in aworld where so many people do things senselessly, without thinking, we need reflection andcontemplation before our actions.

But the idea of such a contemplative space is rooted not only in the practices of most initiaticceremonies; it is also rooted in the earliest days of the Craft.

Chaplain’s Chat By: Brother Dore Patlian

Masonry is not a religion, but that does not mean that we do not hold God as central to the moral-ity and lessons of Masonry. No man may become a mason except he profess his belief in a higher power, a Supreme Being, a Creator. we seek the blessing of deity before we take any important ac-tion.

Masonry seeks to unite mankind in brotherhood and affection. Religion often tends to divide us along sectarian lines. Your religion is your business, the adoration of deity is all of our business as good men and masons.

If you know of any brother or family member who is in sickness or distress please e-mail me at [email protected] or call at 941 320-8291

“Freemasonry is ‘veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols’ because these are the surest way by which moral and ethical truths may be taught. It is not only with the

brain and with the mind that the initiate must take Free-masonry but also with the heart.”
