Bela Padilla prepares to send food to street vendors after raising P3.3M

Actress Bela Padilla reaches out to poor Filipinos who are most hurt by the brunt of the ongoing lockdown imposed by government to combat COVID-19.

Bela Padilla said that the first three batches of food care packages she is sending to street vendors who are struggling to feed their families because of the imposed lockdown due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) are set to be released this Wednesday.

The actress shared that she has raised P3.3 million in three days with her campaign, “Pagkain para sa Pinoy,” which

aims to feed “our favorite taho, dirty ice cream, and bananacue vendors” who won’t be able to rely on their normal sources of income during the month-long quarantine period.

She dedicated the whole of her Wednesday talking with local government units, other celebrities, and fans who are willing to help her in facilitating the distribution of the packages.

Padilla has already closed her fundraiser page, but she has been retweeting various other charity efforts for those people who still want to extend help in any way they can.

It was last Tuesday when the Metro Manila lockdown was “enhanced” to cover Luzon. This Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases in the country passed the 200 mark. ABS CBN News

'Bayanihan, Musikahan': Ryan Cayabyab, Filipino artists launch FB Live concert

series amid coronavirus crisis

National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab on Wednes-day kicked off a free concert series via Facebook Live, as a channel of solidarity and en-tertainment among Filipinos amid the Luzon-wide quar-antine due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The "Bayanihan, Musi-kahan" series, Cayabyab ex-plained, will feature differ-ent artists performing songs through live video on their respective Facebook pages, as well as the program's main page.

Rolling out formally on March 23, the concerts aim to raise funds for the most vulnerable sectors in the COVID-19 crisis, according to the music veteran.

"Alam natin na tayo, kayong nanonood ng FB Live, we're all

relaxed in our houses, pero mas maraming tao na nangan-gailangan ng tulong... Sila 'yung nagatrabaho araw-araw para may kitain, para may maihain sa kanilang hapag-kainan," he said.

The means for donations, as well as the beneficiaries, will be detailed in succeeding episodes of the Bayanihan Musikahan.

In Cayabyab's first epi-sode, he interacted with view-ers whom he let determine his lineup of performances. He granted their requests to sing his iconic compositions "Tuwing Umuulan", "Mamang Kutsero", "Araw Gabi", as well as the "Sineskwela" theme song.

He then enumerated the artists involved in "Bayanahin, Musikahan" — a diverse mix of stage and mainstream talents,

both stalwarts and newcom-ers.

Among those confirmed to perform are Lea Salonga, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Jaya, Martin Nie-vera, Jed Madela, Ebe Dancel, Chito Miranda, Raymund Mar-sigan, Cherie Gil, Agot Isidro, Jim Paredes, Noel Cabangon, Aicelle Santos, Morissette, Christian Bautista, Mark Bau-tista, Nyoy Volante, Ice Seg-uerra, Dingdong Avanzado, Juris Fernandez, Karylle, Yael Yuzon, and Sitti.

Also listed as performers are Jett Pangan, Tanya Manal-ang, Robert Sena, Isay Alvarez, Raymond Lauchengco, Men-chu Lauchengco-Yulo, Bayang Barrios, The Company, Gian Magdangal, Gab Pangilinan, Reb Atadero, Michael Wil-liams, and Red Concepcion. ABS CBN News

GMA-7 to re-air 'Encantadia,' 'My Husband's Lover,' and

other award-winning shows

GMA-7 will air its award-winning and top-rating pro-grams 'Encantadia,' 'My Hus-band's Lover,' Ika-6 na Utos,' and 'Kambal, Karibal' in lieu of currently airing programs Magkaagaw, Prima Donnas, Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit, Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation), Anak ni Waray versus Anak ni Biday, and Love of My Love.

GMA Network temporarily suspended the production of its shows last Saturday, March 14, following the declaration of a community quarantine in Metro Manila.

Ika-6 na Utos, which stars Sunshine Dizon and Gabby Concepcion, will replace Sun-

shine's present show Mag-kaagaw starting Wednesday, March 18.

Magkaagaw also stars Sheryl Cruz, Klea Pineda, and Jeric Gonzales.

On Thursday, March 19, Prima Donnas will temporar-ily stop airing and will be re-placed by Ika-6 na Utos in its timeslot. Ika-6 na Utos will also takeover Prima Donnas' Saturday timeslot.

Prima Donnas is top-billed by GMA's up-and-coming ac-tresses, Jillian Ward, Althea Ablan, Sofia Pablo, and Elijah Alejo.

Meanwhile, Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit will continue to air its pre-taped episodes

until Monday, March 23.Afterwards, Ika-6 na Utos

will takeover Bilangin ang Bi-tuin sa Langit's slot.

Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit is the TV adaptation of award-winning 80s movie of the same name. It stars Mylene Dizon, Kyline Alcan-tara, and Ms. Nora Aunor.

On GMA Telebabad, Kam-bal, Karibal, which stars Bian-ca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix, and Kyline, will air in lieu of Anak ni Waray versus Anak ni Biday starting Wednesday, March 18.

Anak ni Waray versus Anak ni Biday is bannered by Barbie Forteza, Kate Valdez, Snooky Serna, and Dina Bonnevie. GMA News
