DescriptionThe RPX-3.0 is a buck converter with integrated inductor in a 7 x 9 x 4mm thermally-enhanced QFN package. The input range is from 4.5 to 36VDC, allowing 5V, 12V or 24V supply voltages to be used. The output voltage can be set with two resistors in the range from 1V up to 18V. The output current is up to 3A and is fully protected against continuous short-circuits, output overcurrent or over-temperature faults. RPX-3.0 is perfect for smart meters, industrial applications, test and measurement equipment, and distributed power architectures.

The switching frequency range of the RPX-3.0 is 200kHz to 1.2MHz. The switching frequency can easily be set by connecting a resistor (RCLK_set) between the CLK_set pin and AGND. Additionally, the CLK_set pin can be left floating, and the RPX-3.0 will operate at 400kHz default switching frequency.

Pad InformationPad # Function Description
1 AGNDAnalog ground for internal reference and logic circuits. DO NOT CONNECT TO
PGND. See recommended layout.
2 CTRL/SYNCControl pin / Sync pin. Can be connected to Vin for always ON, to an oscilla-
tor to synchronize the clock, or to a resistor devider to set UVLO.
3 CLK_set Clock set. Sets switching frequency of device with external resistor to AGND.
4 VINInput voltage. Connect a low-ESR low-inductance external bypass capacitor
between this pin and PGND as close to the pins as possible
5, 14,
15, 18PGND
Power ground. This is the return current path for the power stage of the device. Connect pin 5 to the input source, the load, and to the Power ground for power stage of device. Connect pin 5 to input source, load, and input and output capacitors. Connect pins 14 and 15 to pin 18 to create lower ground
plane. See layout section for example.
6, 7, 8 VOUTOutput voltage. Connect external bypass capacitors between this pin and GND
close to the pins
9, 10,
11SW
Switch node. Connect these pins together underneath the power module to improve thermal performance. Pins must be isolated from all other pads.
12, 13 DNC Do not connect. Must be soldered to an isolated pad
16 FB Feedback input. Used to set the output voltage between 1V and 18V
17 PGOOD Power good open drain output.
