AUSTRALIAN READING HOUR
Are you ready for Australian Reading Hour?
We want students to rediscover or introduce themselves to the benefits of reading.
So take an hour on Thursday 19 September to pick up a good book: https://readinghour.org.au/
SRC BREAD TAG COLLECTION
Thank you to all that have contributed to Amelia's bread tag collection through the SRC. You can continue to send bread tags to HB3 on a daily basis.
WHAT’S HAPPENING AT KPS POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING
Our school's core values are Respect - Safe - Responsible. Weekly PBL lessons in the classrooms ad-dress school expectations in different outside areas across the school and how we can play, move and be-have in a respectful, safe and responsible manner. The focus for weeks 8 and 9 are the front and back playground areas and use of equipment.
NAIDOC PUBLIC SPEAKING COMPETITION
Congratulations to Shaniah and Rhiannon who represented our school at the NAIDOC Public Speaking
Competition at Koonawarra Public School on Tuesday 10 September. The girls enjoyed preparing for the
competition where they wrote a 4 minute speech and presented it together at the event on Voice, Treaty,
Truth.

CRUNCH AND SIP
We all know fruit and vegetables are good for us, and they taste great! They are packed full of vitamins and minerals that are important for growth and development and are a source of dietary fibre, which prevents constipation. Eating diets high in fruit and vegetables also protects us against a number of diseases.
Crunch&Sip ensures students are consuming at least one serve of fruit or vegetables each day, and can help increase the total number of serves they are eating each day.
So encourage your child to eat fruit and veg at home and at school. And don’t forget to send some fruit or vegetables to school each day for your child to enjoy during Crunch&Sip break!

ATTENDANCE EXPLANATION OF ABSENCES
If your child is absent from school, parents
are required to provide an explanation for the
absences within 7 days.
When a student returns to school after an
absence, they must bring a note from their
parent/carer, explaining the absence and
provide it to their class teacher.
Alternatively, parents can explain an absence
via the Skool Loop app under the ’Absentee’
icon. This can be done on the day of the
absence or upon returning to school.
This term the students have been busy learning key learning concepts of numeracy, literacy, science, art, and social skills via
cooking activities.
They have enjoyed cooking each a range of food and inviting other classes to join us each Thursday to enjoy the yummy food.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Have Your Say on Before and After School Care
The NSW Government is committed to providing before and after school care to all students of public primary schools in New South Wales. As part of the reform, a parent web form has been established by Service NSW that will enable parents to tell the department about their specific care needs and to stay up to date with any new de-velopments.
The information provided by parents will help the Department of Education to understand your needs, give them insights into where there are gaps in service delivery and help to ensure the extra places are delivered where they are required. Have you say today at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/basc.
