The four-year-old, who was fifth behind Alkaased in the Nov. 27 G1 Japan Cup in Tokyo, will take in the mile- and-a-half contest rather than the Cup over a 1 1/4 miles. “Ouija Board had been 75 per- cent certain to run in the Vase, but now Alkaased does- n't go, that is the race we'll go for,” Dunlop said. “Ouija Board lost very little weight as a result of her good run in Japan and has retained her form well. I think she would have finished closer if she hadn't got a little bump inside the final furlong. On reflection it is possible she went too soon. Kieren [Fallon] felt he kicked on too early, but I am not com- plaining with her effort in finishing fifth.” Dunlop re- vealed that he feared the surface would be too firm for the filly in Tokyo. “I had no idea how she would stand up to it after her trouble with a fractured splint and then a quarter crack this year, but she came out of it with no problem,” he said. “She is such a good mover. She will prefer the ground at Sha Tin, which will be more forgiving. She takes her travelling around the world so well, she just eats and sleeps, so she's taking the simple hop from Japan to Hong Kong in her stride.” AGA KHAN MARES DOMINATE DEAUVILLE As in the past fortnight at Kildare and Newmarket, it was His Highness the Aga Khan’s offerings that once again lit up the market, with Suprina Bloodstock snap- ping up the session topper Darasa (Fr) (Barathea {Ire}) at the Deauville December Mixed Sale yesterday. Con- signed as hip 286 , the five-year-old mare is in foal to GI Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Domedriver (Ire) and was knocked down to Patricia Boutin’s agency for i160,000. Later in the afternoon, Gilles Forien’s FIPS stepped in to secure hip 330 , the four-year-old Haleema (Ire) (College Chapel {GB}). The half sister to the stakes-placed Halawanda (Ire) is carrying a foal by Barathea (Ire) and was purchased for i130,000. Carlos Laffon-Parias also bought two from the draft, headed by hip 349 , Keraka (Storm Bird). The 14-year-old, from the family of Kalanisi (Ire), has produced two stakes performers in Kermiyana (Ire) and Keramani (Fr) and was knocked down for i80,000. Laffon-Parias added Kentucky Kaper (The Prime Minister) later for i60,000. Consigned as hip 452 , the 11-year-old graded scorer is in foal to Linamix (Fr). Despite the average being down on the equivalent session in 2004, the aggregate figure stayed up by over three percent due to the buoyant first day’s trade. NEW ASSOCIATIONS FOR ABDULLAH Khalid Abdullah will send horses to trainers DermotWeld and Pat Eddery next season, the Racing Post hasrevealed. Weld’s consignment of four yearlings will bethe first Juddmonte representatives to be conditioned inIreland; Eddery will also receive four in his first year asa licensed trainer in Britain. “There is no particular rea-son why the Prince has not had any horses in Irelandbefore,” Juddmonte Racing Manager Teddy Grimthorpetold the Post. “Racehorse strength is expected to be atfairly normal levels next year. Four yearlings will begoing to Dermot Weld and four to Pat Eddery, but oth-erwise there will not be a significant change of policyand we will continue to support those we have regu-larly used.”

"Iam quite satisfied with how they breezed [yesterday]morning. We had a change in their preparation. Insteadof rushing them, they were steadily brought along and,as such, they looked more balanced in their actiontoday."
