Grandparents & Seniors Day is planned for this Wednesday,
April 25. Performances will begin in the gym at 10:30 am, with
a lunch from 12:00 until 1:00 pm. Guests may tour the school
from 1:00 until 2:00 pm, at which time they are kindly asked to
leave the school. Students have class until 3:15 pm, and are not
to leave early with their guests. Have your guests signed up?
Please note: Students that will perform are asked to wear their
white Monday shirts, and any students that drive a vehicle
are asked to park at the Mount Elgin Community Centre.
Fill-Your-Freezer Fundraiser’s DUE DATE HAS
CHANGED! Please submit all orders by TOMORROW,
Tuesday, April 24 at the latest, for pick up on Wednesday, May
16. No late orders will be accepted, and we apologize for the
earlier due date.
Milk and Voucher Orders are due tomorrow, Tuesday, April
24. This is the last milk order form of the school year. Grade 8
is thankful for your support this year for the milk program, as
funds raised go toward their trip to Fair Glen.
Panorama of Learning: Plan to come to the school this
Thursday, April 26 at 7:00 pm for presentations and a tour,
experiencing what the high school students have been learning.
All high-school students will be involved in one aspect of the
evening. Please see the attached flyer for more details. Feel free
to invite others!
School Trip Fundraisers: -Grade 11: Cinnabon cinnamon rolls (orders are due this
Wednesday, April 25, for delivery Friday, May 11) Boxes of
Cinnabon’s as well as vouchers to redeem instore will be
available. Please contact a grade 11 student to place an order).
-Grade 11: Fishing Derby (at Van Dyk’s, 243635 Airport Rd,
Tillsonburg this Saturday, April 28 from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.
Entry fee is by donation. Bring your own tackle, and all fishing
will be by catch and release. Canoes and kayaks will be for
rent, snacks and drinks will be provided, and breakfast and a
barbeque lunch will be available for purchase).
Spring Banquet Blue Ribbon Pie Contest: The Spring
Banquet is planned for Wednesday, May 9, and the Student
Parliament is asking for your help with their pie contest. If you
are able to supply your best pie, please sign up at
www.schoolinterviews.ca using the code cbzg9.

BTT1O We’re looking into the dangers of social media this week.
Hopefully we’ll have presentations to profile at the Panorama of
Learning this week!
CHC2D This week we will examine Hitler’s path of destruction across
Europe as well as some key land, sea and naval battles Canada was
involved in.
ENG3C This week students will take their research findings from part
one of their unit summative and create their “essay” styled powerpoint.
They will present this character analysis “essay” to the class on Thursday.
ENG3U We hope to turn to the Victorian Era of Brit. lit. this week. We'll
also be studying the four types of short narratives.
ENG4C We will finish reading the Scarlet Pimpernel this week and prep
for writing an essay.
ENG4U This week we'll be analysing Canadian poetry for emotional,
sensuous, and intellectual appeals. The Literary Criticism assignment will
be due on Thursday.
HRE13 The excitement this week is definitely preparing for and seeing
our grandparents and senior friends at school on Wednesday! In Bible
we will learn about the 2nd mission journey of Paul. There will be a
Spelling test on Friday, DV.
HRE23 This week we will be looking at how we can personalize the
Psalms. Students will be working on a Psalm presentation, which is due
on Tuesday. Pilgrim's Progress discussion is on Wednesday.
IDC3O Our focus this week will be on gender and racial stereotypes in
advertising. Students will also be creating their own print ads.
MBF3C We continue to investigate probability and statistics.
MCR3U We’ve begun our trigonometry unit and will learn about
trigonometric identities and how to prove them today. Students need to keep on top of their daily homework!
MCV4U This week the students will continue their study of
Calculus. They will be introduced to the concept of the Limit and how
when connected to average rates of changes gives us the concept of the
derivative. There will be a small project dealing with equations of lines
and planes in three space. This project will be due next week
Thursday.
MFM1P Chapter 4 review on Monday and then a test on
Tuesday. Chapter 5 begins on Wednesday.
MPM1D After a slower week, we’ll pick up with chapter 5 review and
continue with our chapter 5 task and test. Afterward we’ll move on to
scatter graphs.
PPL1O This week we will continue with our volleyball unit. This week
the students have been introduced to the independent study unit. The
students are working in groups of 3 or 4. Each group has been assigned a
day in the next two months where they will be presenting their custom
sport. Our first custom sport presentation will be this week. In our
health classes the students have a drug awareness PowerPoint
presentation due for this Tuesday.
SCH4U This week our focus will be on rates of chemical reactions. SNC2D Last week we nearly completed our chemistry unit. We’ll finish
our final lesson today and then have a chapter 5-6 test. Students should
be working on their final course summative as well which is due June 1st.
SNC2P We will be finishing our chemistry unit early this
week. Students should prepare for a unit test. The lab report on acid/
base investigation is due on Tuesday.
SPH4U The students are currently learning about Electric Field Intensity
and Electric Fields. The students should be working on their Independent
Study Units.
TDJ3M Students will be spending the week constructing their popsicle
bridges. Some interesting designs have been drawn up so far.
Kindergarten We welcome the grandparents in classroom on
Wednesday. The students are excited to sing to their grandparents.
Today Mrs. H. Cooke will visit the classroom and explain a little of her
experience in Honduras. The long vowel 'i' words (bike, hide) will be
introduced on Thursday. We will learn some facts about the 'blue morpho
butterfly'. Review Psalter 135:4, 5
Grade 1 The excitement this week is definitely preparing for and seeing

Spelling test on Friday, DV. Grade 2 This week in Gr. 2, we will learn more about Pakistan &
prepare for Grandparents Day! We will also have a few tests, which
began today with a Social Studies Test, and will continue with a Math
Test on Wednesday and Bible and Spelling Tests on Thursday! Our
memory work for this week is still Grandparents’ Day songs/texts, all of
which can be found in your Note to Parents.
Grade 3 We’ve planned, prepared and practiced for this special week.
We’re looking forward to this Wednesday’s grandparents/seniors visits.
Monday’s homework will be to correct the 95-100 math workbook. We’ll
have our usual vocabulary quiz a little early on Wednesday. By Thursday
we should be ready for a Bible and spelling test. Our text for this week is
from John 19:26,27.
Grade 4 After an eventful start to our week, we managed to settle into a
healthy routine last week. This week we will continue working on our
book report. On Wednesday our grandparents will be coming to see us.
Along with grade three, we will be presenting a few songs and
paragraphs to them. The book report will be due on the 30th of April
(revised date). We may also engage in a Bible review this Thursday,
otherwise it will happen next Tuesday. The memory work for this week
is Psalter 302:3 and the text is John 3:20. Grade 5 This week Grade 5 will learn about mission work that is
happening in Romania. We are also looking forward to seeing
grandparents on Wednesday! Our Spelling test 28 is on Thursday this
week. We will also have our first Ancient Rome quiz on Thursday.
Memory verse: Psalm 24:1-4.
Grade 6 Our key Bible story this week will be how God opened the door
of the gospel to the Gentiles (Cornelius). As the weather improves
(thankfully) we'll move into our unit on plants in science. Grandparents'
Day will be central this week, so there is only a spelling test to note on
Thursday. Memory verse: Acts 5:38b-39.
Grade 7 This week will be short but busy. Tuesday there will be a
science test on winds, thermals, sea and land breezes and the water cycle.
Wednesday will be our annual Grandparents Day. We look forward
seeing all of our grandparents and wish them an enjoyable time when
they listen to our presentations and visit the classrooms to see the work
we did the last couple weeks. Spelling test will be on Thursday. Our
memory work for this week is Psalter 302:3 and Hebrews 8:1 and 2.
Grade 8 Spelling assignment 23 due Wednesday, and test Thursday.
Mission week assignment due Wednesday. Geography test on ch. 1-2
Tuesday. Bible test 2 Sam. 1-10 Thursday. Performances for Grandparents Day are Wednesday! Might be a good idea for rain coats
and umbrellas Wednesday. Forms for our graduation trip will come home
very soon. Have a nice long weekend!
AVI2O Our trip to the art gallery last week was a success. Our capable
tour guide reviewed some art history and asked critical thinking
questions which were answered well by the class! This week we are
starting a new unit on sculpture and 3D art form. Our first project is
constructing a shoe or truck using corrugate cardboard.
BDI3C Our venture summaries have been chosen. The first summative
assignment should have been handed in. Students will now work on
doing primary market research for their ventures. Part 2 of summative
