QUESTIONS To: [email protected] From: Jenny Re: Cyclone Hamish! Hi Gemma! You won’t believe what happened! We were having a lovely holiday on Lady Elliot Island on the Great Barrier Reef. Everyday I was sunbathing quietly on the beach, reading my book, and snorkelling in the beautifully clear ocean. Then last Saturday the weather suddenly changed. The wind was blowing really strongly and the waves in the ocean were huge because of Cyclone Hamish! Luckily the people in the resort we were staying in knew exactly what to do, and we were safely evacuated back to the mainland with all of the other tourists on the island. I’m happy to be safe of course, but I am definitely going to return to Lady Elliot Island again one day. The Great Barrier Reef is a marine national park so you can see amazing tropical fish and coral really well when you go snorkelling, and there are also lots of dolphins and turtles! I just hope that the marine life is not badly affected by the extreme weather conditions. I will show you all of my photos when I get back to England! See you soon!

Jenny
