MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PROVIDES FRESH ONBOARD WATER
Water is key for the comfort of the owners and crew while onboard. The Total Quality Water
Management Program from Yacht-Mate Products processes all dockside water, maintains the highest quality
of stored freshwater, and provides high purity water for drinking, cooking, ice production and personal use.
Fresh laundry, softer skin, more manageable hair, clean fixtures, a spotless vessel wash-down and the
elimination of hard water stains and spots are among the benefits of the Dock-Mate Water Softener. The units
are upright, with a control valve for recharging, and include a digital meter to notify boaters when to recharge,
and include a pre-filter (DM1000) to eliminate dirt and sediment. Yacht-Mate has four water softening systems
available, plus commercial sizes for vessels 150’ and over. The systems can be portable or installed.
Because the water onboard is only as fresh as the storage tank, the second element of the Total Quality
Water Management Program is the Water-Mate (UV) ultra violet sterilization & Pro400 Ozone systems to
kill any organisms in and coming from the storage tank to any points of use throughout the plumbing.
The Galley-Mate Reverse Osmosis System provides boaters with up to 65 gallons per day of high-
purity drinking water for cooking, beverages and ice production. The compact system can be installed under the
galley sink or in the engine room. Requiring no electricity, the Galley-Mate Reverse Osmosis System runs on
the pressure from onboard pumps. Additional tanks and faucets can be added for use on bridge, cock pit areas aft
ice machines. The filters are easy to change, with replacement needed every 6 months to 1 year. This is a line
pressure unit like in your home but with a higher production level. This systems will cut 50% of your bottled
water storage and cost.
Yacht-Mate Products has a full line of environmental products for the marine industry. In addition, the
company offers odor control systems for bilges, waste tanks and living areas, and a variety of other high-quality
products.

YACHT-MATE PRODUCTS WELCOMES YOU TO OWNERSHIP OF ONE OF OUR ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY PRODUCTS.
A short message for you: You have purchased a YACHT-MATE™ System, and we congratulate you on making a sound choice towards preserving the finishes on your vessel. There are several similar systems available to boat-owners, and we understand your choice was made with difficulty. “We have learned through the years, that regardless of knowledge and advancing technologies, the end user’s plight begins not with the problems that needs to be overcome, but with the confusion offered by those who propose solutions. We are committed to stand behind the products that you will benefit from having. It is our ultimate goal to assure you that we will market products and services with confidence and integrity, as that is what will make us all successful with the endeavors we undertake.”
Dan Cammack & Sandra K. Hoekstra
Dock–Mate is primarily a wash-down system designed to assist you and your crew with the day to day maintenance of the finishes above deck on your vessel. In addition, our system will significantly improve the quality of all the waters you use to fill your fresh-water tanks through supplies available to you at dockside, regardless of the location of the port of call.
We would like you to be aware of the fact that mere processing through our unit, and for that matter, through any other unit of this type, does not guarantee the microbiological integrity of the water on board your vessel. We have other systems to insure safe Drinking Water. This system is designed to improve the aesthetic quality of the water you use for primarily wash-down.
A wash-down system is designed to reduce levels of Calcium and Magnesium (CaCo3) which combine to form Total Hardness. Hardness is the primary precipitant of the dissolving of the Earth’s surface by water, the Universal Solvent, and it is that dissolution that produces scaling of pipes and valves, corrosion to plumbing, plus streaking and spotting as you wash your deck surfaces to preserve the quality of the finish you purchased, when you acquired your vessel. Some systems process water with little result, and then there are well designed systems that will perform to your satisfaction. A properly designed system will perform not just the first few times of use, but with proper recharging, will provide you with a system that will perform month after month, year after year, in a manner so efficient that you will forget that the unit exists to help you preserve your investment. You will come to expect that with every washing of your boat, the longevity of that good ol’ new look is standard to your operations and routine maintenance….and that is what will eventually make us the only name in town, when we partner with you to preserve your investment. That is who we are, your partner in boating….
UNPACKING YOUR DOCK-MATE SYSTEM
Much care has gone into the production, testing and packaging of your new Dock-Mate Unit. Please inspect the system to ascertain that none of the components were damaged during ship-ment. Any damage to the system must be reported within three (3) days of delivery. Your distribu-tor will assist you in filing any required freight claims with the carrier.
Review of the list of components below should be checked against the contents of the packaging upon opening and inspection. Please report any inconsistencies to our vendor within the allowed three days of delivery. We strive to insure every system is checked and double checked. Neverthe-less, we stand ready to assist you if you find any problems with our packaging procedures. We hope you enjoy the use of Dock system for many years to come.

FIXED MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Larger vessels often mount the Dock-Mate unit on board and do not intend the system to be used as a portable dock mounted system. We recommend that if installation fit-tings are changed, fittings and hoses included with your system be kept in order to al-low versatility in future uses of the system. Fittings required for a fixed installation will vary from vessel to vessel, depending on the space available in Engine Rooms, Lazarette, Lockers, etc. Please carefully locate the installation area to optimize the designed uses of this system.
NOTE OUR SALES DEPARTMENT IS AVAILABLE TO CONSULT WITH YOU TO AS-
SURE THE SYSTEM IS PROPERLY LOCATED, CONNECTED, AND OF COURSE MOUNTED AND FITTED FOR SAFE AND PROPER USAGE.
♦ Locate Mounting area that allows for vertical operation of system. ♦ For “on board” installations, the Pre-Filter inlet/outlet connections are 1” female
NPT. Softener inlet/outlet connections are 3/4” female NPT. ♦ Secure the Dock-Mate system to Bulkhead with a cylinder bracket sized for an 10”
Diameter cylinder. Brackets are typically made of aluminum or steel with a foam or rubber liner. (Typically 2-3” wide band horseshoe shaped with flat ends to secure to bulkhead or flat wall. A small piece of starboard is used to keep bottom from mov-ing.)
There are two tubing connections that require use of factory supplied tubing materials. First the 1/2” Drain Line is a non-pressurized poly tube that carries regeneration/recharge waters to waste. The discharge from this line will contain Chlorides and the Total Hardness Minerals removed by the system, as well as feed water. This discharge may be directed to either a existing overboard drain or one will need to be installed thru the hull. Note: If possible, drain line may be interconnected with proper fittings to the concentrate overboard discharge line from typical watermakers.
SEE ATTACHED TYPICAL INSTALLATION DRAWINGS, PICTURES & REQUIREMENT WARNING: Yacht-Mate Products, Ltd. will not be held liable for piping leaks when units are plumbed on board any vessel . Installer assumes all responsibilities for any piping leaks or compartment flooding.
!
TYPICAL INSTALLATION PRE-FILTERS SHOULD BE LOCATED AFTER PRESSURE REGULATORS FROM DOCKSIDE PRESSURE. A BALL VALVE SHOULD BE INSTALLED AFTER THE SOFTENER TO SHUT-OFF DURING THE RECHARGE PROCESS. A SECOND BALL VALVE AND TEE SHOULD BE ADDED (IF APPLICABLE) T0 FILL FRESH WATER DIRECT TO TANKS OR USE WATER MAKER PREMEATE FILL LINES ALREADY EXISTING. AT WATER MAKER LINE FILL INSTALL A CHECK VALVE AND A TEE WITH A BALL VALVE (SEE PICTURE BELOW (BOTTOM LEFT) NOTE: THE DIGITAL METER COMES PLUMBED FOR INTALLATION AFTER THE SOFTENER, BUT CAN BE MOVED B E F O R E T H E S Y S T E M ( I F NECESSARY) AS LONG AS ATTENTION IS PAID TO FLOW DIRECTION AS MARKED ON THE METER.

RECHARGE ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION & SYSTEM SECURITY
THE RECHARGE VALVE ASSEMBLY AND CONNECTIONS FOR YOUR UNIT ARE REMOVED FOR THE PREVENTION OF SHIPPING DAMAGE!!!! SEE FIGURE 11-1 BELOW FOR INSTUCTIONS ON THE RECHARGE VALVE ASSEMBLY. INLET AND OUTLET CONNECTIONS ARE MADE BY SIMPLY THREADING THE CONNECTION ONTO THE VALVE WITH A SINGLE GASKET BETWEEN THE BRASS AND VALVE. THIS CONNECTION SHOULD BE HAND TIGHTENED TO PREVENT LEAKS. THE METER CONNECTION FROM THE FACTORY WILL GO ON THE OUTLET SIDE OF THE VALVE!
RECHARGE VALVE ASSEMBLY: (SEE FIGURE 11-1) ON MODELS AFTER DECEMBER 1, 2000, THERE IS A NEW INTERNAL CHECK DESIGN, AND BALL WITH A RETAINER CLIP SHIPPED AS AN ASSEMBLY IN A SEPARATE BAG. THE BALL IS PLACED INTO THE VALVE, FOLLOWED BY THE ASSEMBLY (O’RING SEALED) THEN SNAP THE LOCKING CLIP INTO PLACE WARNING: DO NOT LOSE INTERNAL CHECK BALL! ONCE BRASS FIT-TING SNAPS INTO PLACE, REPLACE LOCKING PIN. THIS ASSEMBLY IS FRAGILE DO NOT USE THIS AREA TO TRY TO PICK UP UNIT OR MOVE— USE BRASS END BY METER AND BOTTOM BOOT.

SECURING YOUR DOCK-MATE: Most Dock-Mate Systems have been installed on board and numerous systems are used on the dock. On board, systems must be secured with base plates and heavy duty strap-ping in order to ride securely in rough seas. When intended use is on the dock, a strap to prevent possible knocking the system into the water by pulling on hose is recommended. One may consider using a strapping sys-tem that will lock the unit to your piling to prevent theft.

RECHARGE, TEST KIT & PREFILTER INSTRUCTIONS
RECHARGING DOCK – MATE SOFTENER A 26% Saturated Brine Solution is required for proper recharging and regeneration of the unit. Use a Water Hardness test kit to determine feed and treated water hardness. When total number of gallons from the capacity chart (page 12) is reached or treated water shows levels of hardness, unit must be recharged.
1) Prepare brine solution – dissolve salt in water NOTE: SATURATE SALT FOR A MIMINUM OF 2 HOURS LONGER IF USING COLD WATER UNDER 70 DEGREESWE RECOMMEND PELLET SALT VS. ROCK IT IS A MUCH CLEANER SALT MODEL DM-1000 ; USE 12.5 LBS OF SALT AND FILL WITH 4 GALLONS OF WATER (approximately to the top of the white brine tube located in Brine tank). MODEL DM1001/1002 ; USE 7 LBS OF SALT AND FILL WITH 2 GALLONS OF WATER(approximately half way to the top of the white brine tube located in the brine tank) 2) Attach 3/8” tubing to quick connect fitting on brine tank and other end to brine assembly fitting on the valve & turn blue handle to open position NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU PUSH LINE IN SNUG TO QC FITTINGS 3) Make sure outlet side of unit is closed, so water goes to drain. 4) Slowly turn water on ALL THE WAY 5) Turn timer on system to 2 hours 6) When complete, turn water off, close ball valve & disconnect brine line from system (HOLD THE DARK PLASTIC RING TOWARDS FITTING WHILE PULLING TUBING OUT) System is now ready to soften and treat water once again. 7) Empty & stow away brine tank for next use 8) Reset your digital meter back to 0 by pressing and holding total 1
TEST KIT INSTRUCTIONS If you have the new hardness test kit in a blue box, simply follow directions Inside box top. Clear box instructions: Fill vile with 20 ml of water, add 5 drops of hardness solution #1, mix until a uniform color appears. (If the water is not blue then hardness is present) Add hardness solution #2 one drop at a time while mixing until the water becomes blue (the # of drops of solution #2 equals the grains per gal. of total hardness)
CHECKING/REPLACING PRE-FILTERS 1) Ensure the water to the pre-filter is bypassed or shut off! 2) Press the red button on the top of the filter housing to relieve any pressure on the housing 3) Using the wrench provided with the system, unscrew housing (NOTE: although pressure is
relived from the housing, housing will still contain water. Use great care to prevent accidental spillage particularly when working in areas that may have electrical hazards)
4) Rinse off or replace filter with a 20 Micron (FMBB20-10/20) as necessary. 5) Tighten housing and turn water on slowly. Check for leaks NEED ASSISTANCE? CALL US! PH: 954-769-9564 TOLL FREE 877-922-4862
