Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry.Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing and glovesaway from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewelry or longhair can be caught in moving parts.
Avoid accidental starting. Be sure switch is OFF beforeplugging in. Carrying tools with your finger on the switchor plugging in tools that have the switch ON invitesaccidents.
Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning thetool ON. A wrench or key that is left attached to a rotatingpart of the tool may result in personal injury.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance atall times. Proper footing and balance enables bettercontrol of the tool in unexpected situations.
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection.Dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearingprotection must be used for appropriate conditions.

Do not force the tool. Use the correct tool for yourapplication. The correct tool will do the job better andsafer at the rate for which it is designed.
Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it ON orOFF. Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch isdangerous and must be repaired.
Disconnect the plug from the power source beforemaking any adjustments, changing accessories orstoring the tool. Such preventive safety measures reducethe risk of starting the tool accidentally.
Store idle tools out of reach of children and otheruntrained persons. Tools are dangerous in the hands ofuntrained users.
Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp andclean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cuttingedges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that mayaffect the tool’s operation. If damaged, have the toolserviced before using. Many accidents are caused bypoorly maintained tools.
Use only accessories that are recommended by themanufacturer for your model. Accessories that may besuitable for one tool may become hazardous when used onanother tool.

GUIDELINES FOR EXTENSION CORDS
Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavyenough to carry the current the tool will draw. Anundersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resultingin loss of power and overheating. The table below showsthe correct size to use according to cord length andnameplate ampere rating. If in doubt, use the next heaviergauge. The smaller the gauge number the heavier thecord.Be sure your extension cord is properly wired and ingood condition. Always replace a damaged extension cordor have it repaired by a qualified electrician before using it.Protect your extension cord from sharp objects, excessiveheat and damp or wet areas.
Use a separate electrical circuit for your power tools. This circuit must not be less than 14 gauge wire andshould be protected with either a 15 Ampere time delayfuse or circuit breaker. Before connecting the power tool tothe power source, make sure the switch is in the OFFposition and the power source is the same as indicated onthe nameplate. Running at lower voltage will damage themotor.
Repair or replace damaged or worn extension cordsimmediately.
eep the extension cord clear of the working area.osition the cord so it will not get caught on theorkpiece, tools or any other obstructions while youre working with the power tool.

4. Insert new cutting bit (4) into the collet.
Insert the bit all the way into the collet and thenpull it back between 1/16” and 1/8”. This creates anair space between the motor shaft and the bit tohelp prevent overheating the bit.
Before tightening the collet on the bit, make surethe flutes (spiral portion) of the bit are completelyvisible outside the collet. Clamping the collet onthe bit flutes will result in broken bits andpossible injury.
5. When bit is properly placed in the collet, depress theshaft locking button and turn the collet nut clockwiseby hand as far as possible.

PRACTICE CUTS USING FREEHAND SOLE PLATE
6. Turn the switch ON.
7. When the motor is up to full speed, slowly tip the toolto an upright position, letting the bit cut into theworkpiece (see Fig. 7). Once the tool has reachedthe upright position and the bit has cut through theworkpiece, slowly move the tool in a clockwisedirection using slow steady pressure to make the cut.NOTE: Except for cutting around outlet boxes indrywall, always cut in a clockwise direction.
8. When cut is complete, turn the tool OFF, wait until itcomes to a complete stop and remove it from theworkpiece.
Do not attempt cutting around outlet boxes in drywalluntil:1. All electricity in the vicinity of electric wires has
been disconnected by either turning the breakerOFF or removing the fuses.
2. You have read the instructions on the followingpage entitled “CUTTING OUTLET OPENINGS INDRYWALL”.
CUTTING TIPS
The rotating cutting action of the bit will cause a slight pullto the left when cutting. Natural variations in the structureof wood will cause the bit to “wander”. This tendency willbe magnified when applying too much pressure to the bit.Slower cutting gives you better control. Excessivepressure or fast cutting will increase bit temperature andshorten the life of the bit.
When cutting a hole in a vertical surface, avoid ending thecut at the bottom of the hole. Always start and end thecut at the “top” so the cut-out part will not drop onto therotating bit. Always turn the tool OFF before removing itfrom the workpiece.

EXTERNAL CLEANING
DO NOT use solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from varioustypes of commercial solvents and may be damaged bytheir use. Use clean cloth to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
Do not at any time allow brake fluids, gasoline,petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc. tocome in contact with plastic parts. They containchemicals that can damage, weaken or destroyplastic.
INTERNAL CLEANING
It has been found that electric tools are subjected toaccelerated wear and possible premature failure whenthey are used on fiberglass boats and sports cars, wallboard, spackling compounds or plaster. The chipsand grindings from these materials are highly abrasive toelectric tool parts such as bearings, brushes, commutators, etc. During any use on these materials it isextremely important that the tool is cleaned frequently byblowing out with a compressed air jet.
It is critical that you wear safety goggles or safetyglasses with side shields and a dust mask whileblowing dust out of the spin saw with a compressedair jet. Failure to take these safety precautions couldresult in permanent eye or lung damage.
POWER CORD MAINTENANCE
To avoid shock or fire hazard, replace the cordimmediately if it is worn or damaged in any way.
LUBRICATION
All of the bearings in this spin saw are lubricated with a
