OVERVIEW OF THE

BRAZILIAN ETHANOL

SIFAEG (Goias Ethanol Association) and SIFAÇUCAR (Goias Sugar

Assocciation) are the institutions that represent the enterprise sector

production of cane, sugar, ethanol and bioelectricity in Goiás with the

government and the society, strengthening and facilitating the

communication among all the involved ones. In Goiás, the sugar-ethanol

activity is an example of respect to the environment, quality of

production and social responsibility.

SIFAEG

SIFAEG/SIFAÇUCAR has more than 40 members. In Goias, there are 33

sugarcane agro industries, producing around 40 million tons of sugar-

cane (Brazil’s 4th) and more than 2 billion liters of ethanol (Brazil’s 2th),

employing directly and indirectly more than 100 thousand workers and

occupies 400.000 ha (1,15 % of the state area). Our energy potential of the

sugarcane is very big. We will produce 3000 MW of energy until 2013

(more than the consume of the whole state).

Participação do Capital Estrangeiro na Safra 07/08 – C-S

Na safra 07/08, 11,7% de toda a cana moída no Brasil pertenceram às empresas

estrangeiras. No início desta década, esta participação não ultrapassava 1% da cana moída.
