Location• Morellino di Scansano is in the warm and dry “bassa” (lower)

part of the Maremma, around the town of Scansano • The particular clones of Sangiovese are different here than in the

Chianti Classico zone – the dark brown tones and richness gave it the name “Morello”

• DOC status in 1978, DOCG status in 2007

History

• Le Pupille was founded in 1978. • When Elisabetta Gepetti was 17 years old she met and later married the son of the

owner of the Le Pupille estate.• At the time, the Le Pupille estate was a classic Tuscany farm, producing various

products from vegetables to cows, sheep, and wine. • After her father-in-law died in the mid 1980s, Gepetti managed the first harvest alone.

History• Established by Elisabetta Geppetti as a “hobby”, the first vintage of Morellino di Scansano produced was

1985• First vintage of the iconic Saffredi

was 1987• In the 1990s, Fattoria Le Pupille

became an established presence on the international wine market

• Acquisition of more vineyards and particularly the single cru quality “Poggio Valente” in 1997

Poggio Argentato Maremma IGT

• 60% Traminer and 40% Sauvignon Blanc • This wine takes its name from the exposure of the

vineyards, which face the Argentario promontory. • Aromas of grapefruit, orange and rosewater, this

white has an alluring aromatic profile. The palate shows more citrus with a hint of spice and ripe fig all balanced out with refreshing acidity.

• Pairs well with appetizers, salads, white meats and especially fresh seafood dishes.

• 55% Sangiovese, 30% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc

• In the Maremma, "pelofino" is a nickname for red heads—a tie-in to Elisabetta Geppetti’s gorgeous mane—and farmers with refined and elegant tastes.

• Aromas of black cherry, plum, pepper and hint of cassis. Rich on the palate yet refreshing and lively, the wine’s tannins are present yet fully integrated. The finish is smooth and reminiscent of forest floor.

• Pairs well with barbequed dishes, cured meats and dry-aged cheeses.

Elisabetta's father-in-law and mentor, "Fredi.”• Bouquet of black plums, cassis, cedar spice, and

violet this wine exudes pedigree. Warm and luscious, the fruit expands on the palate as the well-integrated tannins fill the mouth.

Morellino di Scansano DOCG

• 85% Sangiovese, 10% Malvasia Nera and 5% Alicante • The word Morellino is believed to take its name from the

color of the Maremma horse known as "morello," (brown) that were once used to pull carriages in the Scansano area.

• Aromas of wild berries, leather and spice all topped off with a feminine floral note. On the palate the wine is incredibly smooth and velvety with noticeable but well-integrated tannins.

• Pair with pasta, red meat, game and aged cheeses.

Poggio Valente Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG

• 97% Sangiovese and 3% Merlot • Notes of cherry, licorice, herbs and violets,

this wine is such an elegant expression of the Scansano terroir. Full of ripe tannins from the coastal sun.

• This wine is a perfect match for any meat-based dish or well-marbled steak.

Solalto Maremma IGT

• 40% Traminer, 30% Sauvignon and 30% Semillon • The wine name is a reference to a drawing done

by one of Elisabetta's five children, her daughter Clara.

• Notes of dried flowers, apricots and peaches with a hint of waxy lemongrass. The minerality is flanked by a racy acidity that keeps the wine refreshing on the palate.

• Pair with salty cheeses or mousse filled tarts.
