Key targets for sponge city initiatives in Jinan are to retain 75% of water on site, increase water security and improve storage systems (retention)
Number of projects underway covering water quality, waterway rehabilitation, flood mitigation and updated technical manuals
Key future targets for engagement with SA are to import MAR technology, establish ongoing collaborative arrangement and develop regular joint forums
Interest in assessing the social and economic benefits of sponge city technologies
Need for better university and research linkages
Three pilot areas available for MAR trial which need to be assessed and selected
Report to be jointly written by Jinan and South Australia for Mayor on MAR pilot project and as basis for agreement to engage Australia China Sponge City Consortium (within two months)
