Teachers / Researchers Required for Sokoto State University, Nigeria.

Sokoto State University is a new conventional degree awarding Institution whichdepicts the concept of education as a determinant of progress and societal

advancement. It visions to become world-class institution that produces globallycompetitive graduates who can advance economic development and are prepared to

meet challenges of the millennium.

It is in this regard, the University requires qualified expatriates to fill positions ofProfessor, Reader, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer I in the following Departmentsthat will commence academic programmes in September 2013 (2013/2014 session)

1. Arabic and Islamic Studies 2. Educational Foundations

3. History 4. Curriculum Studies

5. Modern European Languages 6. Biological Sciences

7. Nigerian Languages 8. Biochemistry

9. Economics 10. Mathematics

11. Geography 12. Microbiology

13. Political Science 14. Pure and Applied Chemistry

15. Sociology 16. Physics

17. Science Education 18. Computer

Required Qualification and Experience:

I. Professor

The Applicant must hold a Ph.D, degree in relevant fields. S/he must have sufficientand relevant publications in peer reviewed, reputable journals and conferenceproceedings with at least fourteen (14) years cognate experience. In addition, theapplicant must be registered with relevant professional bodies, with evidence ofacademic leadership.

II. Reader

Applicants must hold Ph.D, degree in relevant fields. S/he must have sufficient andrelevant publications in peer reviewed, reputable journals and conference proceedingswith at least eleven (11) years cognate experience. In addition, the applicant mustbe registered with relevant professional bodies, with evidence of academic leadership.

A Senior Lecturer with three (3) years of teaching experience could be considered butmust have demonstrated capacity through sound academic publications andleadership.

III. Senior Lecturer

Applicants must hold Ph.D Degree in relevant fields. S/he must have sufficient andrelevant publications in peer reviewed, reputable journals and conference proceedingswith at least eleven (11) years cognate experience. In addition, the applicant must beregistered with relevant professional bodies, with evidence of academic leadership.

IV. Lecturer I

Applicants must hold Master’s Degree (Second Class minimum) in relevant fields. S/hemust have sufficient and relevant publications in peer reviewed, reputable journals andconference proceedings with at least five (5) years cognate experience. In addition,the applicant must be registered with relevant professional bodies, with evidence ofacademic leadership.

Note: All applicants must be proficient in computer and a teachingqualification will be an added advantage.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salaries and other terms of employment will be decided at the time of interview by theforeign employer.
