OUTREACH TEAM – INFORMATIONAL MEETING
Join Diane Goolsby (Missions Committee chair & team leader for the new Outreach Team) and Ben Butler on Tues-
day, August 1st @ 6:30 p.m. in the Administrative Conference Room (church office). They will share about the soon-
to-be formed Outreach Team.
The MUMC Administrative Council approved the formation of this new team to help mobilize MUMC for even
stronger, more faithful outreach in Christ’s name. This team will be a covenant community that spends time focusing
on personal and group growth in discipleship and also spends time prayerfully discerning what specific outreach
ministries God would have MUMC participate in, with a special emphasis on missions in our immediate backyard in
Madison the city and Madison County.

WEDNESDAYS AT MADISON Will resume August 23!
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS!
Clint and Nora McInnis joined
MUMC on July 16. Jesse and Ruth Heath joined
MUMC on July 23.
Margaret Lucille “Lucy” Lusco, daughter
of Matthew and Meredith Lusco, was bap-
tized on July 23. MUMC grandparents are
Beverly and Bill Phillips.
Our Annual Conference is initiating a Wesley Foundation at Millsaps College for this fall, and their new Wesley
Foundation Director will be Rev. Reed McCaleb. Our church has joined with several other local United Methodist
churches to help fund that new ministry during its early years. Reed wrote our church this past week thanking us for
our support and to share about the vision that he has for this ministry. Please keep Reed and the Wesley Foundation
in your prayers as they begin this new ministry in the coming weeks.
Our Annual Wednesday Night Kick-Off/Smoked
Chicken Dinner will be held August 23 at 5:15 p.m. It
will be followed by Blessing of the Backpacks for the
kids (see KIDS Ministry page for details). The adults
will be treated to a musical performance by The Rails.
Taylor and Valley Hildebrand and Jamie and Julia
Weems will perform with guitar, banjo, stand-up bass,
fiddle, and maybe even a mandolin or ukulele. It will
be a fun night of fellowship and music, so please plan
to attend this yearly event and invite others to come
with you!

for Children’s Time and then go sit with your parents for the remainder of the service.

Bag Ladies is a ministry that uses recycled plastic grocery bags to make mats for the homeless. Mats are made on a
loom or crocheted. No experience or talent is required to take part in this important and fun ministry. It is a time for
fellowship while serving a great purpose. Women, men and children are welcome!
We will pick up our current sermon series on Sunday,
August 7. Please read Revelation 21 for that Sunday.
