Well, what a wonderful evening Friday night was. The concert was a

roaring success it seems, enjoyed thoroughly by all who attended, with

some saying it was the best they have seen. The children certainly did an

excellent job, and enjoyed performing. Several parents commented on the

apparent joy shown by the children on stage.

Again, many people helped to create an excellent night and thanks to all

who were involved. Special thanks to staff who put in many extra hours in

preparation and in helping the children on the night, ensuring the night was

the success it was, and to our ‘creative group’ for their artwork of the

scenes. They certainly added to the atmosphere. Also thank you to parents

for their excellent work in costuming the children, and in helping them with

lines and practise, and with providing an excellent supper.

This Friday there is a working bee at the school, starting at around 3 o’clock.

There are quite a number of jobs to be undertaken, and we are hoping for a

good turn up of helpers. Some of the jobs require different tools and

equipment, and if you have any of these and can assist it will be greatly

appreciated. A list of the jobs are noted later in the newsletter. If you are

unable to assist on the day, but would like to attend at an alternative time,

please let the office know of the time, and the jobs you are willing to under-

take. Remember that assistance at two working bees for the year will mean

that the maintenance levy payable with term 1 fees will be refunded.

Year 5 and 6 head off on their excursion to Canberra this week. They have

an early departure, 6.30 am, please ensure that you are punctual. A great

deal of interesting activities are planned, and no doubt they will have an

enjoyable time. We pray for God’s protection as they travel, and during

their time away.

ASCA Speech exams are coming closer and closer, with the date set for

December 3rd

. Students are again preparing for these with individual items

and class choral work.

Staff this afternoon will attend training in emergency response. This is

updated annually and will conclude tomorrow with an emergency lockdown

or evacuation for students to ensure they are familiar with the correct

procedure should an emergency occur.

God Bless,

Bev McFarland

Year 2-3-4 Class

A huge congratulations to the 2/3/4 class for their excellent involvement in the school pro-

duction, Peter Pan. Thank you to parents and carers who assisted in costumes, backdrops, sup-

per etc. The audience participated wonderfully also, which contributed to the success of the

production.

This week students are applying themselves to the established routines. Spelling, Homework,

and other conventions are back to normal. Stage 1 students have been solving the problem of

transporting koalas from a nature reserve in Australia to a zoo in Japan as part of their stud-

ies in their Transport unit. Stage 2 students have been classifying ‘goods and services’, needs

and wants in their ‘Who Will Buy?’ unit.

We have confirmation of our excursion to Hanericka Farmstay. The cost and itinerary is con-

firmed for Thursday/Friday of week 9, being the 4th and 5th of December. A permission note

with full details will be issued shortly.

Students are being encouraged to fulfil their obligations with homework this term and your

support is invaluable and much appreciated in this area. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if

there is an issue with homework.

In the K-1 Classroom

Class Awards for 24th October

Peter Pan! What a fabulous event!!! The students were really excited about their opportunity to

perform and ALL looked so fantastic. I am very proud of the little Indians and little Pirates who

played their parts very well. Also congratulations to the rest of the cast, your performances

were top class. What a great show.

Settling back into what the students call “work”, we are back into literacy groups, focusing on

finishing off a couple of tasks that went into limbo and then we will turn our attentions onto

reading groups.

In Maths this week, we will be setting up a shop to continue our investigations into money and

particularly working on our skills to buy and sell items and give change (for the year 1’s

mainly), count ordinal numbers, use rows for multiplication and focus on 2D shapes. If you

happen to discover you are putting items into the recycle bin that might be fun to buy and sell

in a shop, please send them in with your child.

Other work in the classroom this week will include handwriting assessment, print making in

Art, Healthy Harold booklets and HSIE. Have a great week.

God Bless,

Leticia O’Brien

Fruit break: To encourage healthy eating and give the children a sustainable energy snack. Please help by donating a piece

of fruit each Wednesday and Thursday.

Thank you everyone for your support by sending in fruit and veggies. The children and

staff appreciate your generosity.

In the 5-6 class we have done our production which went very well. Everyone went very well and it all went as planned. It was a great evening. This week in Science we have been doing Australian Landforms. We are doing a map of Australia which we are marking some Australian Landforms and the states on it. We have also been doing our art slide shows with Miss H and our Maths with her on Tues-days and Thursdays. In H.S.I.E. we have been doing Australia and the world, working on different products and where they come from. Also learning about global villages and what they mean. This week we have the 5-6 class camp from Wednesday to Friday. We are going to the Yarrangobilly caves and then going in the thermal pool which will be very fun. After that we are going to Canberra and stay at Warrambui. God Bless you. By Teila Mairaropi and Elisha Muller

P&F News Thank you to everyone who donated goods for our hamper. Due to the generosity of many families we have enough goods to make 2 hampers (it’s not too late to hand in goods if you had forgotten!).

The raffle will be drawn next Friday 7th November at our Fish and Chip night. Ah yes our annual Fish and Chip night is upon us again and we are in need of helpers on the night to serve, cook, set up and clean up, sell raffle tickets as well as provide salads, desserts, bread sticks, ice

cream and beetroot. Please let me know how you can help. Lastly a huge thank you to all those who helped man the stall at the preschool fete on Saturday. Despite the warmer weather and slow business, it was a great opportunity to get our face out there

and be a part of the wider community. Thanks again, Megan Klemke P.S. Don’t forget our Working Bee and sausage sizzle on Friday!

Pastor’s message You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them, because they could not bear what was commanded: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned.” The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, “I am trembling with fear.” But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood

of Abel. (Hebrews 12:18-24) Opposites abound in God’s Word. From day one there was evening and there was morning. Not long after the shocking difference between good and evil became apparent in Adam and Eve’s lives, and not in the good way in which they were hoping. And immediately following that was the difference between life and death as it was foretold that they would no

longer live in the garden and eat of the tree of life. The difference of life with God and life without him would be their fate.

But in the process, another opposite shown forth. God treated them not in anger but in love. He told them that a Saviour would come who would crush the serpent’s head. He told them that Eve’s offspring was coming who would win the war that

began that day. Instead of wrath, God wrapped his children in love.

And that opposite has been the life story of God’s interaction with his people. Those who approach God in humble repen-tance don’t receive the terrifying wrath that was the reality for man or animal on Mount Sinai. They receive no firestorm, no terrifying threats, no sure and certain death. Instead they approach God to the sights and sounds of glory. They come to God through a mediator named Jesus. Jesus’ blood makes atonement for sin. Jesus’ blood turns wrath into righteousness. It turns fear into joy. Jesus’ blood turns the threats of God’s law into the promises of his gospel forgiveness. And because of our mediator we can rejoice. We can celebrate the heavenly future that is in store for us, who are covered in the blood of

Jesus. We can approach God with confidence and encourage others to do the same.

Prayer: Lord God, thank you for giving me the opposite of what my sins deserve and promising me a glorious fu-ture at your side in heaven. Be with me as I walk through this life. Please continue to guard and guide me, wher-ever your paths lead. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

This Week: We heard the story of Cain and Abel in the Old Testament, and our reading from Hebrews (above) shifted our focus to something we don’t always think about when we read the story: blood crying out. Abel’s blood cried for vengeance,

but the blood of Jesus cries forgiveness and salvation.

Next Week: Chapel will be on Tuesday 4th November at 9:20 am. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. We are continuing our theme of “Old Testament / New Testament”. We will focus on some of the stories of the Old Testament and see their fulfil-ment in Jesus Christ in corresponding stories or verses from the New Testament. So we will be having two Bible readings each week – one from the Old Testament and one from the New. And we will continue to have a theme verse for each

week.

I will be at NSW Pastors’ Conference from Monday to Wednesday next week, so the staff and students will be leading chapel. That also

means there won’t be S.A.L.T next week. In His name,

Pastor Adam Eime
