Dear Mr V Vijay Please be advised that your Engineering qualification(s) has been assessed by ECSA and
found to be substantially equivalent to the South African Bachelor of Technology (B
Tech) Engineering Qualification which is the benchmark qualification for registration as a Candidate Engineering Technologist. You could be considered for registration as either a Professional Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineering Technician through the alternative route depending on the nature, standard and level of your engineering and responsible engineering experience and the period over which you have attained this experience. In both cases of registration you are required to have obtained at least three (3) years of Post-graduation engineering experience of which one (1) year must be at an acceptable level of responsible engineering experience. The relevant documentation: Application forms for Candidate Engineering Technologist, both Professional Technician and Technologist registration forms, Policy Statements (R2/1 C) for technicians and (R2/1 B) for technologists and the discipline specific guidelines for Technologists are found on our website (www.ecsa.co.za) for your perusal. It is recommended that you go through all the above mentioned documentation carefully and determine which category of registration your qualifications and accumulated engineering work experience place you.
