TransdisciplinarityWe are transdisciplinarity team of architects, designers, engineers and technologists. Thanks to cooperation with psychologists, biologists, scientists and many others specialists we create the most innovative solu-tions. These solutions are FiDU and 3+ technologies of stabilizing metal sheets.

As process designers we not only aspire to design fabu-lous forms. Our aim is to create innovative solutions which generate endless possibilities for development and usage. Design processes that are inspiring and lead us to unpredictable results and forms.

Throughout design process we want to reach the best possible synergy between technology and design.

    About us

Our main goal is to deliver uniqueness and customiza-tion in design and constructions while keeping the production, transport and warehousing innovatively efficient.

This is how we imagine the future world: Light, durable structures of customized applications produced on demand out of one-of-a-kind parts, yet efficiently.

We use computer controlled production process. Cus-tomized pattern, customized form, customized func-tion, one-of-a-kind product and outstanding precision are what we deliver.

Our products can be seen in museums around the world:

    • Pinakothek der Moderne München• Centre Pompidou in Paris• Museum für Gestaltung in Zürich• Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe (DE)• Twenty First Gallery New York (USA)• Montreal Fine Arts Museum (Canada) 2012: Chippen steel chair inox (LE) sponsored by B. Stonehocker

    ControlledLoss of Control

Precision is to curb to perfection making mistakes, to a point when knowledge turns to intuition and we can ‘control that lost control’.

‘Controlled loss of control’ is an innovative method of changing bits to atoms. Today’s world is overflowing with unnecessary and intrusive data.

We put emphasis in its production processes not just on using less material but also less data. We use precise robots and organized tools to create an effective and sustainable production process. Thanks to the pro-grammed process and excellent understanding of the material, sheet-metal, the designer can pass on some of their competencies.

With FiDU technology designer can only control key joining points of the geometry, while surfaces and the negative space are the result of free inside deformation aka ‘controlled loss of control’.

Thus it is the material that ‘decides’ about its final form which is achieved when deforming from 2.5D (two welded flat metal shapes) into 3D using internal pres-sure. Production files required to define the 2.5D form are just a few kilobytes when allowing for a ‘controlled loss of control’. Trying to define the same final form for traditional production methods would require several gigabytes of data!

‘Controlled loss of control’ is also mass customisation. It’s the continuation of craftsmanship, in which the ma-terial and the craftsman leave their mark in the object they create, giving it its individual touch. That’s what FiDU achieves – unique, mass-produced objects.

    Technology of the Future

We develop different efficient technologies of stabiliza-tion of thin metal sheets and we provide lean produc-tion processes for the objects made of metal sheets.

During the work at the ETH in Zurich, Oskar Zieta and Philipp Dohmen have researched many techniques that afford the creation of durable 3d objects out of flat shapes of standard material.

The technologies are predicated on maximizing the use of each element. The steel sheet shapes are bent, cor-rugated, punctured and inflated to achieve stability and to be used in design or architecture.

All the elements are processed while flat and the final result is accomplished by putting parts together and deforming them. The Laser is used as a flexible tool for cutting and for joining. This kind of technology elimi-nates expensive moulds and enables efficient non-serial production.

  • FiDU AlphabetWe decided to get involved in a new project, putting yet another letter in our alphabet of FiDU technology. Be-cause the characters used in the new system were to be assumed unique three-dimensional objects, it was necessary to connect typographical issues with other factors such as light-ing, scale and production techniques. To assist in the implementation of the new challenges we invited Mar-ian Misiak – experienced typographer, urban activist and talented graphic designer in one person. The result of joint work, full of discussions and clashes of aesthetic and technologi-calfields is FiDU Alphabet – the first official, fully designed according to the principles of typography, typeface us-ing FiDU technology.

PakietWe’re glad to present you Pakiet - our first project made in wood! Pakiet modules are made of genuine raw materials, like spruce plywood and raw steel. The main advantage of using plywood is the ability to minimise the cost of production to its maximum, as well as maximise its outreach to a mass audience. Pakiet will prove itself ideal in student spaces, the homes of young families, or small start-ups.

Trophy for Design AliveI design processes for manufacturing customised construction. Process-design triggered the creation of the trophy which is a part fo a larger con-struction and some bigger scale entity. In the paradigm of its own role as a re-ward for creative thinking, the trophy attains a symbolic meaning. Thinking is a process. Like each realized idea is a part of large and still growing concept that support our everyday life.” - Oskar Zieta.

KTR SwordFiDU SWORD is trophy designed and made by us for warrior of creativity - winners of Polish Advertising Compe-tition organized by KTR.

The idea in “hands” of ad makers is like a sword becomes a double-edged weapon which is used accordance with the code of the Knights of Creativity. Oscars are the most valuable prizes to the people of contemporary cinema but the name Oscar means “sword of God”. But it’s not just a sword and a trophy it is something more.

    Trame Triennale di Milano

Copper, interpreted in all its multiple forms and applications, is the main theme of Copper Crossings – Copper Shapes in Contemporary Art, Design, Technology and Architecturepresented at Triennale di Milano.

The concept of the exhibition is by Elena Tettamanti and is coproduced with Eight Art Project – a new com-pany set up to produce projects in con-temporary art and in design – together with Triennale di Milano, Triennale Design Museum and Istituto Italiano del Rame with the patronage of the European Copper Institute.

This is the first exhibition looking at copper from a different point of view thanks to an interdisciplinary ap-proach represented with more than 250 pieces representative of sectors of the exhibition. An outstanding sci-entific support is given by Giampiero Bosoni, Ico Migliore and Francesca Olivini at Istituto Italiano del Rame together with a high profile scientific committee consisting of Giampiero Bosoni, Maurizio Decina, Fiorenzo Galli, Ico Migliore and Vicente Todolí.

Copper Crossings is a journey through works of art, design and architecture, applications in science and technol-ogy together with photos and videos where copper is the leit motiv.Dif-ferent names find in this material a common ground to work according to their personal experiences exploiting in the most innovative ways the formal, structural and plastic qualities of cop-per.

The 30 works shown in the section devoted to contemporary art repre-sent the most important post-war art movements, from Arte Povera to Minimal Art up until the latest artistic trends. In the design section more than 100 objects designed by the top names in the sector. Architecture is explored through 10 scale models representing the work of some of the greatest archi-tects and finally a section dedicated to technology featuring applications on IT, medical equipments, energy con-duction and transportation.
