NORWAY 2007NORWAY 2007We have just returned from a fantastic trip up into Norway's Fjords. The sights were simply breathtaking and we have already booked another trip further north to do a 3 day kayaking and ice climbing tour on the Jostedalen Glacier. Hope you enjoy the show.

Having been to Norway once before, Olga and I decided to hit the Northern Fjords this time for a bit of adventure. Where waiting at Mydall to take the Flåm Railway down through the mountains.

At 2000 meters, we headed towards Myrdal

By this time we were just blown away with the view. Every second I would jumping from one side of the train to the other to catch a pic and shoot some footage. By now, the waterfall count had gone off the scale

After a bit of souvenir hunting, we boarded the boat for the trip to Gudvangan and our first taste of the Sognefjord .

With the seagulls and seals following, we left Flåm and headed down into dreamland.

I think this picture says it all.

One of the highlights of this area were the seals. We were both so amazed at the sights, sadley we missed getting a pic of them.

With each turn of the boat, the lighting changed. The contrasts were amazing.

This expression was permanently on our faces. The Jack had nothing to do with it.

Is she cute or what ?

Page 14: Our Trip To Norway 2007 Mm

It was damn cold and a nip of Jack seemed to make the difference to all who had a swig.

Heading into the narrowest fjord in the world.

The waterfalls were simply beautiful to see. They were everywhere.

The final approach to the village of Gudvangan and our Viking village. By this time we were both starving and looking forward to some food and a shower.

The Gudvangan Fjordtell. Design by local artists with a strong viking influence. Our room was fantastic, and the large glass roof gave us a view to remember for a lifetime.

We decided to make a climb up to this huge waterfall above the village. Our new climbing boots sure worked out well. It was a steep ascent , but Olga never gave up. I went up first to see if it was ok and when Olga made the final climb, she was over the moon……….and so was I.

The next day we backed all our gear and headed off for our kayaking adventure. We had the full gear. Olga had never worn a wetsuit before and we sure had a few laughs getting it on her. We paddled to the mouth of both fjords and had an absolute ball. Saw 2 seals and two otters. Yeah Otters, just like in the Disney pics we used to watch as kids.

This waterfall was well worth climbing too. It ran down the cliff face and under this old foot bridge that looked a 100 years old.

It really was a total feast of images. Everywhere you looked you would just go……… ooooohhhhhh !

The days hike to the village of Bakka

Page 27: Our Trip To Norway 2007 Mm

The church in Bakka was built in 1859 and serves the community of the Naeroy Valley. Most of the names on the headstones in the small cemetery were either Gudvangan or Bakka. What amazed us was the ages in which they died. A large majority lived into there late 90s.

With a snoot full of red wine, Olga, in typical style, grabbed a handful of Viking souvenirs and sat in the beautifully carved Queens throne

You could watch this for hours lying on our bed. It was mesmerizing.

Page 29: Our Trip To Norway 2007 Mm

With a few hours left in Gudvangan, we were blown away when this beautiful rainbow appeared.

Just had to take this shot. All the hand carved viking art in the village was done by one man. He did this with a chainsaw.

Page 30: Our Trip To Norway 2007 Mm

We left Gudvangan by bus and took the steepest, narrowest road in Europe to Voss. Olga was pretty spun.

What wonderful memories and what a wonderful trip. Thanks for joining us………………come back soon ok ! Love Olga and Marty xx
