Our Trip to Golden Flake
We were waiting to go into the factory. We got a great picture of the boys.
The girls are in the front of the Golden Flake truck. We were waiting to go inside the factory.
We all had to wear a hairnet, even though none of us liked them. We had to cover our hair and ears. We had to make sure our hair did not get into the chips.
The machine was making chips and nuts. This machine was in the room where we watched a video.
We were looking at the different chip bags.
We were looking at the inside of a chip bag. This is called the film. It is on a roll. It protects the chips from the light. Chips can stay in the bags for up to 16 weeks.
The pork rinds were going down to be bagged. The bags were put into boxes and the boxes were going down the conveyor belt to the warehouse.
This is where we saw the cheese puffs being made. They went through a lot of machines.
The draw bridge is lowering so we can go across. Be Careful, you could fall. Remember don’t touch the rails, they are dirty.
We were in the back of an old 18 wheeler. It had been around the world about 80 times if you calculate all the miles it traveled. See all the boxes piled in it?
The machine overflowed. This is the starch that comes off of a potato. They sell this starch to different companies. They use it for making our paper stiff and starch to iron our clothes.
The Golden Flake guy is cutting the potatoes to make them a perfect size. We got to try regular chips right off the line. They were warm.
They were putting the chips into their bags. Then the bags were put in the boxes.
Look at the top of the picture. The machine is mixing the chips and the seasoning. These chips are going to be Sweet Heat chips.
