February is a short month, but we aren’t letting that slow us down! Aubrey has been busy coordinating a fun-filled month packed with a variety of new events as well as some old favorites. We will start off with a Super Bowl watch party (sorry, Cowboys fans ... maybe next year!), dance the night away just ahead of Valentine’s Day, and Chef Bill and his team will work their artistry with an elegant Valentine’s night dinner. We will toss a few beads for Mardi Gras, host our First Annual Chili Cook-Off, and learn about wine and chocolate pairings from our friends at Chocolate Secrets. We’ll round out the month with our Second Annual Oscar Party. You are welcome to wear your Red Carpet Best, but it is certainly not required to attend this star-studded event. As always, we encourage you to invite your family and friends to any (or all) of the events on our calendar! Most require an RSVP, so please call the Concierge to make your reservations today. Aubrey will provide more details as the Chili Cook-Off gets closer. I for one, can’t wait to cast my vote! As our community grows, our transportation calendar gets busier and busier. We are increasing our service hours, but need to ask that you please be respectful of the scheduling process. The transportation works most smoothly when appointments are scheduled with the Concierge at least 48 hours in advance. To run most efficiently, we also ask that you not add destinations to your trip once you have left the community. Trips are scheduled based on the estimated time of travel to and from your scheduled destination. If the driver is asked to make additional stops, this delays the remaining day’s appointments. If you have questions about this process or need further clarification, please feel free to speak with Aubrey or me. Thank you for making Belmont Village your home and as always, it’s our pleasure to serve you each day!

A Hearty CelebrationSince 1963, February has been

designated American HeartMonth as a way to promoteawareness of cardiovascular

diseases.

Heart AttackWarning Signs

Some heart attacks are suddenand intense, the “movie heartattacks,” where no one doubtswhat’s happening. However, mostheart attacks start slowly, withmild pain or discomfort. Oftenpeople affected aren’t even surewhat’s wrong and wait too longbefore getting help. Here are somesigns that could indicate a heartattack.

• CHEST DISCOMFORT—Most heart attacks involvediscomfort in the center ofthe chest that lasts more thana few minutes, or that goesaway and comes back. It canfeel like uncomfortablepressure, squeezing, fullnessor pain.

• DISCOMFORT IN OTHERAREAS OF THE UPPERBODY—Symptoms caninclude pain or discomfort inone or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.

• SHORTNESS OF BREATH—with or without chestdiscomfort.

• OTHER SIGNS—may includebreaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness.

As with men, women’s mostcommon heart attack symptom ischest pain or discomfort. Butwomen are somewhat more likelythan men to experience some ofthe other symptoms, particularlyshortness of breath,nausea/vomiting, and back orjaw pain.

Learn the signs, but rememberthis: Even if you’re not sure it’s aheart attack, have it checked out.Minutes Matter!
